Phone waking up on Message Received |

Thread started: Jul 21 2008, 3:01 PM EDT Watch
I just started using an 8125 (used to have a blue angel sx-66) and one thing I liked is that when I pressed the power button on the blue angel, it stayed off even if I got some notification like a text message. I am finding with the 8125 that if I hit the power button to put it into standby, and I get a text message, the phone turns on. I would really like it if it stayed in the standby mode and just beeped at me like the sx-66 did. Any ideas?

I have also just noticed that If I receive an outlook email, I hear the proper sound, and the screen stays off, like I want it to. But, the text message always turns on the device...

Hi, here’s how you remove songs from drop down list..
• Start Menu
• Programs
• File Explorer
• My Device
• Windows ( make sure you are showing all folders, if in file explorer click menu)
• Rings
• Find the ones you don’t want and delete
Hope this helps

I'd really like to see HTC put out a ROM fix for this one. If a user selects to stay in landscape mode, it should not switch back to portrait every time the keyboard is slid back in. I prefer to use all my programs in landscape.

Thanks to a response I received thru this site I have a solution to my situation. My situation was create a document on the PC (vista ultimate 64 bit) put that document behind a password, send it to the pocket PC (Cingular 8125 - windows mobile) where it remains behind the password but accessible.
Respnse suggested: Get Documents to Go thru Data Viz. I did I found that with WORD it is possible to put the document behind a password = Window square upper left - prepare- encrypt or password - save the file = save as windows 97-2003 - transer to handheld et voila!!! it works THANK YOU!!!

I am hoping to be able to create a document/file on my PC (vista ultimate 64 bit), put that item behind a password, transfer it to the 8125 still behind the password, access that info on the handheld using the password. I have tried WinZip. Encryption works on the PC, I can transfer the file to the 8125 but cannot open it on the handheld?

Take a look at http://www.golod.com/2006/06/cingular-8125-battery-woes/
The solution: remove the battery, apply 4.5 to 5.5 Volts from a 1000 mah source to the outside terminals on the battery while monitoring the voltage until the battery is charged up. This can take as little as a minute, so don't go off and leave it to cook. Once the battery is charged above a certain threshold, it will be able to be charged via the USB port again. Note that the USB spec calls for 500 maH, and the HTC USB charger supplies 1000 maH, so you should use the HTC charger, not a Motorola charger, when possible. If you do charge via a USB connection to a computer or via the Motorola or similar low power charger, make sure you do so with the screen turned off.

On my old MPX220, I had made my own MP3 ringtones for each person. On my new CIngular 8125, I put the ringtones where they belong and when I try to attatch them to a person, they do not play at all. THey show up in my list with every MP3 that is on my sd card, which will not play either. Does anyone know why? I think all my contacts are on my SIM. Thank you for any help.

Connecting 8125 Wifi directly to my home 802.1 wireless router |

My phone info
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
To simplify things I set the router for an open network and disabled encryption. Operation was verified with 3 wireless PC connections in the home.
I haven't been able to connect my phone to my Netgear WGU624 firewall router but after failing it automatically connects to my neighbors( unsecured ) Linksys router. I verified this by surfing the web for 5 minutes! I am stunned that the phone would automatically make an unsecured connection to some randomly available network, exactly what does security mean here?
Has anyone else tried this? I was told by Cingular that I could do this but the menu navigation is confusing and the manual is uselees in this topic.

"I am thinking about buying the 8125, and I would like to use it around the house to browse the internet and such, but not use Cingular's service (unless I have to while out of town). I am interested to know how I can set up the phone once I buy it to recognize my secure internet connection. Could you please share your thoughts on how to do it?
Thank you. "
Its is not that difficult. I always prefer to use the manual configure to establish a connection to my wireless router. its the same as you would do it for a pc or laptop. simply give the ssid and password and the ppc will connect to the router.
another way is to click the settings tab (or button) and choose "network cards" from the menu. there u can see all the available connections. to connect to one, just click (or double click).
ps: one imp point here is to disable "restricted access list" if you have set up on the router. i had a restricted mac address enabled and couldnt connect the ppc to router. it took some time to find out that this setting was enabled. i tired to add the ppc to the allowed devices list, but couldnt. the ppc did not broadcast its mac. strange.. though... so i had it diabled and now all is fine.
when you use your own wireless internet service, you wont be charged for the cingular data services. however be adivced that there are some settings (pls refer the manual) to disable using cingular services. for the first month i had to bear the extra charge for using cingular services. the ppc automatically used data services when it lost the wireless connection. i had to call up cingular to have this disabled. another setting is to use sms to keep the connection enabled. disable that too.
hope this was helpful...
thanks.. do let me know if more details are needed.
cheers!

Works fine for me. Be sure that you have the release version of Vista, not a beta version; I don't recall if it worked properly for me under the beta version. Try a different USB port if you haven't already done so. On a side note, if you haven't gotten it yet, you probably should get the DST update from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx, although I haven't been able to figure out what it's supposed to do; I still had to fix the time manually.
