Wizard (Cingular 8125)

Cingular 8125

Wizard

The Cingular 8125 (also known in Latin America as QTEK A9100) takes the features and power of the 2125, a world phone, a messaging device, and an entertainment center and ratchets up the functionality with large QWERTY keyboard and bigger display. The Cingular 8100 is the same but without the camera.

This device is very similar to the T-Mobile MDA, the QTek 9100, and other HTC Wizard WIZA100-based devices, with most of the differences being with the buttons and with the keyboard design, but there may be some hidden differences. Check the T-Mobile MDA pages for more information.

This device uses Windows Mobile 5 (WM5), so software and tips intended for other WM5 devices may work on this one also.

dvoran oeminfo.xml file needed for MS Reader activation (page: 1 2 3) 44 Jan 20 2009, 5:29 PM EST by jamh
Thread started: Oct 4 2006, 5:44 PM EDT  Watch
Apparently all Windows Mobile 5 devices need a file, oeminfo.xml, to be supplied by the manufacturer in the root directory in order for MS Reader to be activated on that device. Microsoft supprt indicated this file should be provided by Cingular and/or HTC.
I've spent over 3 hours on the phone with Cingular and browsed around HTC sites without any success. Cingular says that if I find and install this file HTC will void the warranty and I should accept buyer's remorse and return the phone.
Trouble is, I do that and Cingular doesn't have another Windows Mobile 5 platform with which to provide me the service I need. If I punt Cingular and go to Sprint or Verizon then I'm penalized for breaking a 2 year contract.
Hope someone at HTC can step up to the plate and provide the support for their products so that we can continue to use the same standard software we used on older Windows PPC devices.

mjls How to hard reset HTC AT&T/Cingular 8125 with buttons reprogrammed 18 Jan 16 2009, 11:11 AM EST by denco7

Hi Expert out there,
My Cingular 8125 had a white screen. I learned that a hard reset might resolve this problem.
However, both my comm manager button and voice command button may have been reprogrammed (to other functions) because all I got was some colored horizontal lines in red (with text IPL 2.25 & SPL 2.25), green, blue, white, which seemed to indicate that the 8125 was in the boot loader according to the following post.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=10909448

So I would very much appreciate whether any one knows whether there is another way to hard reset the 8125.

Thanks.

thekernel ESCape key? 3 Dec 31 2008, 3:34 PM EST by Anonymous
Thread started: Oct 16 2006, 10:13 AM EDT  Watch
As you all know, there is no ESC key on the pullout and/or "soft keyboard"... Does anyone know of a way to send an ESC key sequence to applications (PocketPutty for example) using the keyboard? Or a way to remap an existing key (the Windows key perhaps) to perform the ESC function?

Thanks in advance for any help.
