RE: gps Nov 20 2007, 2:29 PM EST "can you track the device from online to locate where it is with or without the reciever and software "Unfortuntately, you cannot get the GPS tracking without both. The T-Mobile Wing does not have GPS built-in like the AT&T Tilt has. Also, you will need some sort of software to track your location. If you want free software, you can get Microsoft Live Search at wls.live.com or Google Maps Mobile at www.googlemaps.com/gmm. Please note that you will also need an Internet connection on your Wing for either of the apps to work. They download the map data off of the Internet. So you would need either T-Mobile Data plan or a wi-fi connection. Quote and Reply Post a Reply Do you find this valuable? |

RE: gps Nov 20 2007, 2:44 PM EST The other thing I should have said is that if you have either of these apps and the data connection, you can just tell them which city or town you are in and they will show you a map of your location. Quote and Reply Post a Reply Do you find this valuable? |

RE: gps Dec 5 2007, 4:19 PM EST Live Search Mobile or Google Maps are both compatible with GPS and free with WM phones. For $100 or less you can buy a separate bluetooh GPS receiver. Follow the instructions to pair it with your Wing via bluetooth and then go into the app and there are menu options to find your location via GPS. It will auto-detect your settings. And no PocketStreets or other heavy maps to store on your phone. Quote and Reply Post a Reply Do you find this valuable? |

RE: gps Today, 4:20 PM EST "You need to buy a GPS reciver... It sucks it costs $200.00 - $300.00..."GPS receivers do not cost that much. You can buy a Holux 236 with the sirfSTAR III chipset for $59 here: http://www.buygpsnow.com/holux-gpslim-236-gr-236-gpslim236-holux-slim-holux-sirf-iii-holux-gps-bluetooth-gps-468.aspx Now the software can cost about $100, but in the long run, it's cheaper than paying for the monthly fee that any of the carriers are charging. For example, on AT&T for TeleNav, you have to pay $10 per month for unlimited GPS. That comes out to $120 a year. With the Holux at $60 and software like iGuidance V4 for $100 here: http://www.buygpsnow.com/iguidance-v4-gps-navigation-software-version-4-for-north-america-dvd-runs-on-pocket-pc-pc-and-umpc-864.aspx You own all the maps and will last you for years. I have been using iGuidance Version 2.1 since 2004 and it still works great today. Quote and Reply Post a Reply Do you find this valuable? |
