Questions
- Is the HTC Mogul discontinued after a 6 month run? Rumor has it some of the bugs in the mogul are unfixable via firmware and the unit is to be discontinued.
- Is HTC working on a fix for the Bluetooth issues on the Sprint Mogul? This phone has been out for 3 months - still no fix mentioned on their site - I guess they don't care!
Answer: There is a new firmware that reduces how choppy your voice is to the other party - but it randomly shuts off the BT!
- It is widely rumored that this phone has a GPS chip that has been disabled. Will there be a hack or workaround to enable GPS capabilities?
Answer: Not likely, it is AGPS which requires a connected call to get data location.
Alternative Answer: The chip on-board is reported to support multi-mode GPS [satellites only, towers only, or hybrid, essentially]. The question boils down to which features the vendors will disable in ROM. With the XV6700, for example, Verizon completely disabled all on-board GPS except E911.
Answer: The Sprint version comes standard with WM6. Other carrier adoption of WM6 is at the sole descretion of the carrier. Since the Sprint version was offered with WM6, HTC supports it. However if you call HTC tech support they will tell you that they only fully support WM5
Answer: Available now for Telus P4000
- Is there a theme-creating application that is compatible with this phone?
- What is the largest capacity microSD card that can be used? 2GB? 4GB?
Answer: 4GB
- When will this phone be available to US customers?
Answer: This phone is currently available in the US to customers of Sprint. They can obtain this handset via Telesales, Retentions and via Sprints website.
Important Update - HTC/Sprint can't get Mogul working - allowing you to trade it in for a different phone
For those who are frustrated by the defective Mogul - Sprint confirmed they won't have a firmware update available for the Mogul this year even though the phone has been out for 4 months. They are allowing customers who request it to trade it in for another phone.

Bugs
Bell Mobility 2.13.666.0 and Sprint 2.09.651.3 - Alarms do not work when charging. Set Calander alarm for 6AM and charge overnight. It will not Wake. It will work if not on charger.
Sprint 2.09.651.3 - Microsoft Voice Command Confirmation does not work. Disable all conformations in VC Settings.
Sprint 2.09.651.3 - Windows Mobile Device Center issues over USB. Very slow often hangs. Tried setting Advanced USB on and off in device. Easy to lose Profile, some issues may be Vista.
Sprint 2.09.651.3 - Lenovo T60 Vista Laptop won't sync over or do anything over bluetooth except pair. May be Lenovo BT stack but PPC-6700 worked fine.
Sprint 2.09.651.3 - Low memory with clean device to start and seems to leak memory with usage. Some of this is all normal to have memory go down with usuage as file caches etc. expand but causes the device to often run out of memory.
Severe Bluetooth problems covered in the following threads - describing choppy BT / poor quality calls on the PPC6800
An issue has been widely reported regarding choppy outgoing sound when using the PPC6800 paired with a Bluetooth headset. The issue is not limited to any particular headset - just about every single popular BT headset has been reported to have a problem. - A firmware patch has been released 10/23/07 that helps you sound less choppy but now the BT unit shuts off frequently and loses connectivty with your headset. http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_TITAN_SPRINT_WWE_2.16.651.0_1.47.00_SPCS_NV124_0506_SPL106_Ship.exe Call HTC 866-449-8358 and Sprint 1-800-927-2199 - it takes MANY phone calls before they even consider the complaint a real issue as apparently neither actually has one of these phones or a BT headset to do any testing with.

Sprint Mogul/HTC 6800 Bug List (Hopefully prod development gets this! |

Mogul Bug/Issue List (from 2 phones) 6800 HTC
Running 2.09.651.3 ROM 6/14/07
PRI 1.24_003
PRL 60610
HW Version 0003
D2.09
Active Sync 4.5.0 Build 5096
1.Using Windows Media player generally is a pain in the neck. Want to be able to just load the card with MP3’s and play them. Don’t need that application in the way, resizing and converting to WMA’s automatically and other nonsense like that. Pressing Music sends one off to the Sprint music store; as much as marketing is into making me interested in that, I'm not. Can't even use that player tab, stuff is off the screen, whatever.
2. Want a way to delete Sprint Software Store and Music and maybe Live Search from the front menu. Just using up screen space.
3. When playing music, power consumption should be kept to an absolute minimum. Eats the battery, playing through Bluetooth. Battery life is generally an issue. Barely lasts a day.
4. If one pauses the music player and has the “start music after phone call’ box checked, and one gets a call (that didn’t get answered), the music starts playing all by itself. What’s that noise coming from my pocket??? Re-start music should only start if one was playing before the call came in!!!
5. Bluetooth quality seems not great, more volume would be good, choppy at times when listening to music (through stereo phones). I saw the ROM update but am wary of the comments that Bluetooth will then randomly cut out.
6. Activesync should have a manual start feature, and before one starts the synchronization, one should be able to set the sync configuration. That is, it seems one can only tell it not to sync something only after it has synced!
See next post for the rest of my diatribe!

I agree 100%. I have lost most of the functionality of my phone, as it dies within a few hours, and even after charging for long periods of time on my car charger, will be dying within a few minutes, even without using any features..I have learned to turn off the "Running Programs" part, but that's only given me about another hour or so of time, and if I don't turn them off after every time I make a call of check the internet, it dies on me very quickly. I'm already on my second battery, and think it's time for another..

Mogul auto-wake-up and "Additional Dialing" Feature |

I just got the Mogul a couple of days ago. Though it is a very attractive device I did encounter two “problems”. Hopefully someone can give me some hits.
1. after device was turned off by pressing the power button, it will be periodically back on and shows the “Today” screen. Then it will be off as the “power” option was set at 1min. My location (home) has a bad Sprint signal (only 1 to 2 bars). Was the phone getting into the auto-roaming mode? Actually, even with the auto-roaming off, the device still “wakes up” from time to time. Anyone has the same “problem”?
2. I could not figure out how to set “additional dialing” feature. I used to have Treo 650. It has such feature where you can pre-set an 800 number and an additional number after several seconds pause (adding commas after 800 number). IT is very useful when using a prepaid phone card to make international calls. I can assign a favorite key, press it, the phone will dial the 800, and then after a brief announcement from 800 carrier, the phone will start to dial the destination No. Not sure Mogul has the feature or no … or how to set up such easy-dialing feature.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know how to display the battery icon on the Today screen? I just got my HTC Mogul replaced and the new one does not display the normal icons on the today screen (battery, screen orientation, comm manager, backlight)

Can't get into Sprint Music store or open Java app. due to password |

I tried getting into the Sprint Music store by clicking on the musical note icon, and I was asked for a password. In parentheses after the request was a suggestion that it might be the last 4 digits of my SSN. I tried that, no go. I also tried 0000 as suggested by a Sprint tech. Still nothing. 1234...also doesn't work. I never set up a 4-digit password for this phone besides my voice mail password. I have seen elsewhere on this site notification that a ROM update is available that will facilitate entry into the Sprint Music Store, but my phone matches the screenshot they display, which tells me I must have the most up to date ROM already, and I am reluctant to do this procedure unless I know I need it. Has anyone else had this issue?

[Call into your voice mail, access the menu, and you'll find a setting for the password.]
I'm having the same problem being prompted for a password when trying to get into the Sprint Music Store. I'd never been asked to set one before. I tried my old Vision password and that didn't work. I'm still searching the Internet for clues, but any help would be appreciated.
