8125 touch screen failure design flaw, reply 2 get noticed by HTC (page: 1 2) |

Thread started: Nov 14 2007, 7:48 PM EST Watch
My 8125 touch screen has failed. I also just went past warranty period. I've seen hundeds of others with the same issue while googling a fix...none to be found expect shelling out more cash on a flawed product. If you are sick of companies like this putting products out that are not well tested or ready for prime time and want to spend a couple of minutes to do something about it read on:
1) Post a reply to this thread and state your problem; let this be one master list of those with this issue
2) If you are an HTC representative, let your company know that we are upset and demand an appropriate replacement/fix immediately even for those outside of warranty. This is a pervasive design flaw and you know it
3) Send an email to HTC and let them know you are upset and the problem, it's easy start here: http://member.htc.com/CustomerService/CS_Mail.aspx
4) If you know of a writer in a major technical magazine, I would love to tell them my experience and would put some time and effort into finding others with this same product defect problem
5) If you are or know a lawyer interested in looking into or starting a class action lawsuit against HTC, please contact me at richbutler1 *** a *** yahoo *** com
I am not a litigious person, but this is not right and HTC is skirting the issue. You should really carefully consider their products if this is their behavior.

In Start>Settings>Connections>Connections> Advanced Tab -> setting for "Programs that automatically connect to the network should connect using" ------ Here I created a new connection called "NONE" this would prevent the device from AUTOMATICALLY using any PAID connection to the internet. You don't need connection from here to connect to the internet using WIFI. If you like WIFI connection, just go to WIFI settings and choose any WIFI connection available.

8126 hard reset halts at "press Send to restore factory default" |

I looked at my phone the other day only to notice the hard reset screen asking me to confirm it - "Press Send to restore factory default, Other keys to quit". No keys have any impact. Pressing the reset button with my stylus just blanks the screen and returns to this same confirmation screen.
Can anyone help me get past this? My preference is not to do a hard reset, but at this point I just want my phone to work.

TCPMP and other problems... |

Hey guys,
So I finally got this outstanding TNT running and I'm getting to know it a little more everyday!
Now here's my little dilemma; I don't like WMP, never have. So on my TNT 19199 rom TCPMP was great. But on this TNT Pro (19213), it just isn't working! I downloaded the latest TCPMP that came in the fun pack, I tried the FLV patch, tried selecting all file associations on the program, even did the registry edit! Still, nothing.... IE runs wmp for vids or audios. I want TCPMP.
Is there anyway to deactivate WMP if all else fails???
Phil
P.s. - I little bit off subect here, but what is the best setting for the Pocketsnes? It runs real slow and for some reason, the buttons are never right! I like to play in landscape with the keypad.
Also, the connection between some bluetooth devices and my pda is a bit screwy. Is there some sort of patch to perfect the connection, make it more clear?
Last thing, what does A2DP do? Is that what I should use for my BT problem? And how do we set up the SDAutorun? I much appreciate that programs run off my SD card rather than clutter the pda's main memory...

How to hard reset HTC AT&T/Cingular 8125 with buttons reprogrammed |

<This is a reposting of one that was located in Discussion forum; Sorry that I do not know how to change the location once after a message is posted.>
Hi Expert out there,
My Cingular 8125 had a white screen. I learned that a hard reset might resolve this problem.
However, both my comm manager button and voice command button may have been reprogrammed (to other functions) because all I got was some colored horizontal lines in red (with text IPL 2.25 & SPL 2.25), green, blue, white, which seemed to indicate that the 8125 was in the boot loader according to the following post.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=10909448
So I would very much appreciate whether any one knows whether there is another way to hard reset the 8125.
Thanks.
M

"You are stuck in bootloader, if this happened during a hard reset you should be able to press the dpad up and then the green send button. If this does not work, you may have to reflash the phone. Was the white screen caused by trying to flash a new rom?"
Hi denco7 and other helping friends,
Thanks a lot. I finally did the ROM update and it revived my phone. I found that I did not need a USB cradle but just needed to make sure that my phone was fully charged before the ROM update. I also saw that my phone could be charged when it was connected to the computer via the USB cable. And as mentioned earlier, when in boot loader mode, no need to start activeSync (but just make sure you do have activeSync). Just (1) download the ROM update from the htc support site (for me it was at http://www.htcamerica.net/support/8125/software-downloads.html
), [if this is a first-time 8125 ROM update, I would recommend running the initial steps of the ROM update software to view/save/print the readme file; one thing I fortunately already had already done before running the ROM update was to have disabled the hibernate/standby mode of my PC] (2) connect the fully-charged phone through the USB in the boot loader mode (in my case, it was to do the hard reset when seeing the white screen to enter into the boot loader mode) – the word “USB” should appear at the lower-left corner of the boot loader screen (horizontal color lines), (3) run the update software and do not touch either your PC or your phone until instructed. It took about 10 minutes and there was a meter showing on both my PC and my phone showing the installation progress.

HTC 8125 - Turning SD card into Internal memory... |
9 |
Jun 4 2008, 8:53 PM EDT by |
|
|
Thread started: Jun 3 2008, 5:41 PM EDT Watch
Hey guys,
This is my hope of all hopes. I've been looking for some info for the last 2 months. I've searched many boards, creatyed many threads, even got in "I"arguments with members of these boards over this point!
I even called HTC Tech support and they told me while they do not have an answer for me, maybe their "unofficial" website forum may...
I got an HTC Wizard back in January. Being the curious and gadgetty type, I immediately hopped on the net and upgraded my phone and added all sorts of cool features. I ran across a program, or perhaps it was a registry edit of some kind that allowed my SD card to become the internal memory. So my internal memory displayed 2000MB of free storage versus the usual 50MB.
Throughout the month of january I experimented with the phone, modding it, changing roms / os, doing stuff to it... during that time, I erased that program / registry edit and completely forgot about it.
I've looked everywhere and couldn't find anything about that anymore! I'm going crazy! If anyone can help me with this problem, find me that program / registry edit again and I will be forever grateful! More over, since my word is my bond - I am willing to offer 50$ to that person. I will send it by mail or transfer it to you via email or paypal.
Thanks, Phil

"Euuhh,
Ok....?Please rephrase that last part so I could understand it better. Sorry, long day at work and my mind is mush! ;-P
Denco, I appreciate the heads up. But I still think the method is out there. Although it's not a "business" savvy thing to invent or come out with - I now it'sout there."
Hardspl is a program that allows your phone to be downloaded with different roms. The roms being the systems and sub systems that run the hardware on you phone. HTC has a rom that runs the TyTN II and even though it is the same phone, AT$T has a different rom that runs the Tilt. HardSpl allows you to interchange these roms or flash custom roms, to make your phone do custom things.
The different roms can be downloaded to your card and then on to your phone, but the phone cannot run from the rom on the card.
If Windows Mobile does not support VM, and the rom contains Windows Mobile. Virtual Memory is not going to happen ever, ever, ever.
But by all means keep on looking, everyone needs a hobby : )

Sounds like either you dont have a data plan or your settings may be incorrect (since you cant connect to anything).

"There is no genuine 4gb right now~ At least by a good brand.
The 4gb's on ebay are fakes that have been modded and will break"
That is not true (can't speak for all the eBay products however!).
Both 4gb and 8gb uSDHC cards are now available.
e.g. Sandisk:
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?ID=2633
According to Sandisk's website, the 4 gb uSDHC is compatible with the Touch and many other HTC products.

First we need to know if yourdevice has been unlocked to use another carriers SIM.
Next, what carriers SIM are you trying to use?
Where are you trying to use the device?
If you are using a Cingular SIM in your device and are raoming internationally, your device/SIM will automatically pick up on the "friendly" network if there is one near you.
