I have a HTC S710 for about a year and the speaker just stopped working. This is problematic because the ringer no longer works. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had this problem with my Orange SPC E650, however a clear storage restart solved the issue. Luckily for me I have everything sync'd with outlook so a restart is not a problem.

I've read lots of posts about this. Seems you have to add the BT DUN, though even then I've not got the two working correctly together....yet !

Hi everybody,
I have an HTC S710. Up to today, on top of the screen, next to the G (GPRS) a number 1 appeared. The phone worked perfectly.
Today, for no apparent reason, a number 2 appears, and suddenly, Im not being able to place any phone calls.
I can recieve phone calls and I can send and recieve sms properly. Just to be sure, I tried my SIM on a different phone and I was able to place calls.
Anybody has any idea on how to change this or how to set it back to the normal settings? Help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

I had a problem with my screen display "freezing" up recurrently. In my case, simply sliding the keyboard open, then closed again solved the problem.

I have an S710. My center OK key will not work. The navigation keys work but the center OK will not. I started using the phone on January 4, 2008. It has not been dropped or handled roughly. With this key not working I can only make and receive calls, I can't alter any settings, set appointments, view messages as I am unable to select options by pressing OK. Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Cannot get videos to play full screen. Have looked for PreferredHeight and PreferredWidth Registry settings but they are not under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Mediaplayer/ASFCodecs. When I look at that path only audio settings show up. There is nothing for video. Do I need to create the Registry Entries from scratch? If so, can anyone help with this?

Hey There. Same thing happened to me. I had to pass it to my wife to use her longer fingernails to flick it out. Now I use a butter knife to put the microSD in, very slowly until I get that first very slight click, then leave it. It's VERY easy to push it in too far fer sure.

Hi this issue has been raised on several sites around the net but no-one including htc seem to have any real solution.
On the HTC S710 the ear speaker just stops working, for no apparent reason, you cannot hear any sound coming from the speaker during calls, however when a head set or speaker phone is switched on everything is fine.
The current HTC solution is to perform a Hard-Reset (wipe the device clean) which fixes the issue for a few hours (sometimes weeks if your lucky) and then you get the same problem. I've had my s710 for 3 months and performed over 20 hard resets in the first month of having the phone.
Like most users i've got to the point where i simply use speakerphone when making calls, which is bearable accept for the fact that everyone else around you can hear your conversation.
the guys on the expansys forum have been trying to find a solution with no luck so far http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=91840&page=1
and
http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=91840
but so far its either put up with it, or sell it on ebay.
Anyone got any ideas on a solution, I love this phone one of the best phones i've ever had, but I can't understand why HTC havent addressed this issue!

Rubber pieces won't stay put |

Is anyone else having issues with the rubber gates continuously falling out? My USB cover started slipping out about 2 months after I got my phone off eBay. My microSD cover is now starting to bend precariously and looks like it will be popping out soon as well.
I sent a note to HTC tech support, but they gave me a pretty lame reply: "Thank you for taking time to share this valuable information with us. We have not come across with any issue regarding the rubber parts previously. Unfortunately, the rubber parts cannot be replaced as these are soldered in the body of the device."

I have this problem too. They seem to know about the issue, since they have removed it on the S730.
"The keypad layout has been tweaked a little, but apart from the removal of the rubber flap that covers the USB port, its business as usual, button-wise."
http://www.mobilecomputermag.co.uk/20080110260/htc-s730.html
Anyway. Seems that most ppl just remove it. I guess I will have to do that, too. I was hoping to buy a 10-pack with spares because I kind of like to keep those darn holes from getting stuffed with lint. :-p

hey everyone new to the forum, my question here are these to phones the same? the SMT5800 is for verionwireless user which i am. verizon version comes with a QUALCOMM® MSM7500, 400MHz instead of the TI's OMAP™ 850, 201 MHz processor. if these phones are the same is it possible to change the case. the S710 makes the verzion SMT5800 look cheap, does HTC offer a service to change the casing of the phone.

So I set my alarm for 4AM the other day. The alarm went off. I woke up turn off the alarm and un set it. During the day I happened to power cycle the phone.
I have a plain S710 with HTC badging unlocked with windows mobile 6 using it on the ATT network in the states.
So everyday no the phone goes off at 4AM. I have tried unsettting. Setting the alarm for another time etc. When set for another time it simply goes off twice. Anyone have any thoughts?
I have Opera and Jetware's bluetooth stack installed. Running WM6 standard 5.2.1235 build 17740.0.2.0
