Replacing Broken LCD Dec 19 2007, 2:19 AM EST Does anyone have the REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS on how to take apart this phone (xv6700) to replace the LCD screen and or digitizer & flex cable. I believe it requires 2 plastic tools in addition to the 2 Torx ? screwdrivers. Can't find on Google. Any suggestions? Also, since the LCD cracked the 1st day I had it, any suggestions on a better case that can handle impact. The phone was in a thin pouch and the beltclip popped off my belt and the phone, still in the case, hit the floor on the side (not the glass face) of the case. Thanks 3 out of 3 found this valuable. RE: Replacing Broken LCD Jan 3 2008, 2:32 PM EST I think this is an HTC phone very similar to the HTC Wizard, Cingular 8125, etc. I just repaired my Cingular 8125 it works fine. I purchased the digitizer (touch screen) from eBay at this shop: http://search.stores.ebay.com/e2shopstore_touch-screen_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfsnZe2shopstoreQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ139946367QQsofpZ0. The digitizer comes with the tools and instructions but the instructions are brief. Here are a couple of things you should know: a) If you do not have a screen protector on the screen, cover it with some tape before you remove it so that most of the shards of glass are kept off the LCD. b) There may be an extra screw that is not shown on the disassembly instructions so go slow. c) You will need double sided tape to re-stick the digitizer to the LCD frame. d) You may also need to solder the ribbon cable back on ( I had to on the 8125). If you do, use a 10-15 watt soldering iron with a small pointed tip. Pre-tin the leads on the cable and the connecter pads and it will help make the solder joint. Here is another web site that has some instructions: http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=RD I also found a manual which is pretty close to what I needed for the disassembly: http://www.mdatweak.com/downloads/Wizard_Service_Manual.pdf Have fun, JMR Disclaimer: Attempt this repair at your own risk.
