Here are a few things you may want to try with oyr HTC Dream.

See programs and applications | To open the application list, drag the application tab upwards. |
How to Customize HOME screen? | You can customize your Home screen to display applications, shortcuts, and widgets. Add an application, widget, or shortcut to the Home screen. 1. Touch and hold a vacant spot on the Home screen. 2. Touch Application, Shortcut, or Widget from the pop-up MENU 3. Touch the desired application, shortcut, or widget. 4. The icon is added to the Home screen. To remove an icon from the Home screen: 1. Touch and hold the icon that you want to remove. 2. Touch and slide the icon to the trash can at the bottom of the screen. |

Access the System Status (Signal strength, Network, battery level, etc) | From the HOME screen Select MENU > Settings > About Phone > Status |
Read and Dismiss notifications (alarm, reminders, new message indicator, etc) | When you see a notification in the status bar, tap the bar and slide your finger down the screen to open the list of notifications. To open the notification, tap the item. To clear notifications, tap Clear notifications at the top of the notification window. To close the notification window, slide your finger up the screen. |

Screen timeout | To turn off the screen quickly, press the END CALL/POWER button. |

Access the Calendar | Press HOME, open the Applications tab and then tap the Calendar icon. |
Create a new appointment in the Calendar | Press HOME, open the Applications tab and then tap the Calendar icon. Touch and hold on the date you want to add the appointment for and select New Event from the pop-up menu or Press MENU>New Event. |
Access Contacts | Press HOME and then tap the Contacts icon. |
Add a new Contact entry | Press HOME and then tap Contacts. Your contacts list appears > Press MENU, then tap New contact > Open the keyboard and enter all information you want to store for the contact > When finished, tap Save. |
How to add E-mail address to contact list | From within the email, Touch and hold on the email address that you want to add and then from the pop-up menu, select either Add as New Contact or Add to Existing Contact. |

To silence your phone | To silence your phone quickly, press and hold END CALL/POWER, then tap Silent mode on the options MENU. |
Change volume during a call | You can also increase or lower the volume during a call. Use the up/down volume button on the left side of the device during a call |
How to add contacts from incoming calls | If a person who is not in your list of contacts calls you and you want to save that personal phone number, tap and hold the phone number in the Call log tab and then tap Save to Contacts on the MENU. |
How to find a contact quickly | To find a contact quickly on the HOME screen, open the keyboard and start typing the contacts name. The contacts list appears and displays matches for the contact name that you have entered. |

Zoom in to a webpage | Touch the screen to open the zoom control tab. |
Zoom out of a webpage | Touch the screen to open the zoom control tab. |
How to change out of landscape mode | The screen automatically changes to landscape orientation when you open the keyboard (except in Browser and Pictures, where you can set the screen orientation depending on your preference). |
Quickly find web pages | You can also enter the web page address directly on the Browser screen. Make sure that the cursor or selection is not on a text box within the web page, and then start entering the web page address. |
Add a bookmark | You can also bookmark a link inside a web page. To bookmark a link, highlight it using the TRACKBALL, press and hold the TRACKBALL, then tap Bookmark link. Enter a name for the bookmarked link, and then tap OK. |
View multiple web pages | When you have opened several web pages, you can scroll your finger up on the windows screen or roll the TRACKBALL down to view more windows. |

Compose a new text message | 1. From the HOME screen, touch the Applications button. 2. Touch the Messaging icon. 3. Touch New message. 4. At To, type the phone number or contact name. Contacts will appear as you type. Touch the contact. 5. Touch the message field and Type your message. 6. Touch Send. |
Reply to a E-mail message | Open the e-mail message that you want to reply to, go to the bottom of the screen and Touch Reply or Reply to All |
Forward a E-mail message | Open the e-mail message that you want to forward, go to the bottom of the screen and Touch Forward |
Add a picture to a text message | To reply a text message with a picture message, press MENU, then tap Add subject, or Attach. The message is automatically converted into a picture message. |
View archived ISP E-mail messages | To view your archived messages, in the Inbox conversations list, press MENU, then tap View labels > All mails. |

Tips to make your battery last even longer | 1. On the Home screen, press the Menu key. 2. Touch Settings and select any of the following to conserve battery life: Wireless controls: Turn off Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi when not in use. Sound & display: Decrease screen brightness and screen timeout (or simply press the red End key to switch off the screen when you are done). Data synchronization: Disable automatic sync. Sync e-mail and calendar manually. Security & Location: Turn off GPS satellites and Use wireless network when not in use. |
How to check what applications are running | Press and hold the Home Key for 5 secounds on the home key. You will up to 6 running applications. |
Will this device support streaming video | Only YouTube. Anything needing flash, a plug in, or player will not work out of the box. The device can stream video with "rtsp" scheme or "http" scheme with one of the following mime type, "video/mp4", "video/3gp", "video/3gpp", and “video/3gpp2". |
How to stop all running applications on the device | Power the device off by pressing and holding the Power Button and then selecting Power Off |
Full status bar | When the Status bar is full, tap "+" to display hidden icons/notifications. |
View notification panel | You can also open the notifications panel on any HOME screen by pressing MENU and tapping Notifications. |
Multiple notifications | If you have multiple notifications, scroll down the notifications panel to view more notifications. |
Manual-sync applications | When Auto-sync is disabled, you can force synchronize individual applications, such as Gmail or Calendar, by selecting their respective check boxes, or by pressing the MENU button and tapping Refresh. |
Supported audio file for ringtone | You can use *.wav, *.mid, *.mp3, *.wma, or other types of sound files that you downloaded from the Internet or copied from your computer as ring tones. |
