Problems with Bluetooth on NIssan Altima
Oct 28 2007, 2:02 AM EDT
My Mogul is having a problem that seems widespread for HTC products. When using handsfree mode on my phone, everything works but the talking and listening. The phone will dial through my navigation system and I can anser the phone. I can hear the person calling/called but the audio is really bad. They can't hear me at all. I've updated to the latest firmware foy my device but it didn't help anything. I went to the Nissan site and it said that the Cingular and T-mobile versions of the HTC had been tested and work but the Sprint Mogul was being "tested". I think that means that they know that there is a problem. There's no infomration on the HTC site that acknowledges this problem. I gues these folks aren't very service oriented. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this problem? 5  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

I am having the same EXACT problem on my Altima 2007. And believe me, we aren't the only ones. There is a major software issue with bluetooth 2.0 and its new features. I have tried various regiestry hacks and bluetooth applications that don't effect anything with the handsfree profile. The tools are usefull for tweaking Bluethooth data transfer and music playing. The only way this issue will be resolved if there is an up-roar by the consumers forcing software developers to release a software fix ASAP. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

So, how do we create the required uproar? I think that the majority of the prolem lies with HTC since the Altima seems to work with a large number of other cell phones. How can we create the appropriate uproar with HTC to get this fixed.

One more thing, there is a firmware update for the Sprint MOgul on the HCT web site. DO NOT INSTALL IT! I did and my Mogul completly hangs twice a day. I have to pull out the battery to get it to restart. Naturally, there is no going back without taking the phone in for service.

I have the same problem with a 2008 Altima and the HTC TyTnII (aka Kaiser) it works great in my 2006 Toyota Siena. The problem appears to be in the HTC implementation of the Microsoft Bluetooth stack on their Windows Mobile devices. I have read lot's of threads about adjust bit pool size and other attempts at fixing this but nothing works so far. it is a real shame that my Motorola MPX 220 from 5 years ago works perfectly in my car but my brand new HTC phone will not do it.
I am debating dropping my HTC device for a Samsung or a Motorloa WM device that is using the Widcom BT stack if I can find one that runs WM 6.

Adding to the list... I have the same problem with my new HTC Shadow and Nissan Altima 2008. My HTC SDC worked fine.
Simply put - the best way to get the attention of HTC on this unfortunate problem is to not use their products. I'll be returning the Shadow tomorrow. Shame. I liked the phone otherwise.

I have written post on blogs about the same issue. I have an Infiniti G35. My 8525 worked great. All the phones with mobile 6 are under test. I contacted ATT and HTC. BOth said they were unaware of the problem and that Infiniti hadn't contacted them. My car is new, got it in Sept. You would think new phones would work with new cars. Do you find this valuable?

HELLO I AM GOING THRU THE SAME PROBLEM AND IN MY 2008 ALTIMA IF YOU HAVE A NAV SYSTEM WITH BLUETOOTH YOU ARE SCREWED. I BEEN TALKING WITH THE FACTORY REPS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE BEST CHOICE IS TO CALL NISSANS BLUETOOTH HELP LINE AND ASK THEM WHICH PHONE IS WORKING WITH THE SYSTEM. I HAVE 2 PHONES THAT ARE LISTED ON SITE BUT DONT WORK. TODAY AFTER FIGHTING WITH THEM FOR HOURS THE GENTLEMEN TOLD ME OH YEAH WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT PHONE TO. I SAID BUT IT IS ON YOUR LIST. HE SAID WE HAVE TO REMOVE IT. BOTTOM LINE IS MY RAZOR VC3 WORK GREAT WITH CAR. MAYBE THE ONLY PHONE THAT DOES. THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE PHONES IT IS THE CARS. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

HTC SUPPORT IS WORTHLESS BTW -

" I wish i had the money for an altima to test it out. HTC ---_Great Quote HTC. HTC will not take ownership, Nissan doesnt need to because HTC screwed up the stack on these phones. I have the 6800 and of course have this problem. radio update after radio update, factory rom or custom rom. The work around works but you shouldnt have to do it to use a $500 phone in a $30000 car. Not to mention its dangerous trying to perform the handoff trick to the handset and back to the phone.

My 6700 and 6900 that I borrowed work just fine. Garbled BT sound quality goes along great with these taiwainese handsets.

Yes, HTC I have a custom rom on my phone, Yes, I can call you back in 10 minutes with the factory rom. Do you think that stupid people by your phones. Wrong answer. Its the savvy tweakers out there. Best phones in the world. Worst support to compliment them.

Fix the BT issues that are well documented with the altima, infini g35/37s. Its all the same navigation system. Yet you did something right with the 6700 and the 6900. Perhaps take a field trip to a nissan dealer to test drive or contact nissan for a R&D opportunity. This is truely dissapointing and the 6.1 rom will not do anything to fix this. Its broken just admit it and try to remedy the issue.

I took a trip to Verizon with the Altima and they switched phones and everything worked fine. Then I went to Nissan and was given a list of compatible phone. Tee 6800 and 6900 are not compatible. I didn't know this before I bought the phone or the car. No one said anything about compatibility, but oh well. I also did not know there are different versions of Bluetooth. Looks like Nissan works best with the older version. Do you find this valuable?

I recently purchased the new HTC Diamond Touch phone and I had the same problems when connecting via bluetooh to my 2007 G35. The only work around was to switch to handheld and then back to bluetooth in order for it to work fine. But first connection is always bad.

I was forced to return my Diamond, I'm not about to spend $500 on a phone that doesn't work in my vehicle.

Too bad, its such a nice phone otherwise.

I have an Altima Hybrid 2008, and like all of you, cannot use my HTC Tilt from AT&T. Dealer says its the phone. Some of you say it's the car. What has finally worked for you....... other than doing the switch handset/phone thing? thanks. You are so right, $30k car, $200 phone....... disgusting. Do you find this valuable?

I discovered and posted the WM5 for the mogul works just fine, as microsoft did not break the BT stack in WM5. I use the Mogul with WM5 daily now. Love it :)

Not what you were hoping for but it works, Search over at ppcgeeks for more info. I have 08 altima hybrid with nav. works like a charm now :) crystal clear just like the 6700 was. see if you can find a wm5 titl rom. problem solved.
