  • Real-time Email Push With the Windows upgrade that Cingular released in June 2006, the Cingular 2125 running Windows Mobile Smartphone 5.0 now has real-time email push

  • Microsoft Exchange Push Service ? Does this phone work with it? Having a hard time. Exchange email via www.1and1.com entered all the correct username password and server info in the ActiveSync part of the phone...but will not work? Anybody successfully use this or is it broke on HTC's end? I think 1and1's Exchange may be 2007 version? It used to work fine until they chnaged the server address on us without notification. Our desktop and laptop use Outlook 2003.... I guess the phone works with either 2003/2007 exchange server.

Right now it's jimmy rigged using a IMAP addrress etc without Push Service... crappy way to do it. So seems the CONTACTS aren't being updated like they should normally.

Almost considering exchanging phone for iPhone but only if the iPhone can tether to supply internet to a laptop...which not sure if it does or can? I heard it works fine with Exchange?

Thank you! Been round and round with AT&T, HTC and 1and1.com ...no answers at all from any of them. You know how it is with those outsource monkeys.

  • ATT TILT 8925 - Workarounds for Blackberry Connect Overrides? Well, I was pretty happy with this device, had all my POP mail accounts working great and doing scheduled send/receives, and liked the big keypad for touch screen PIN entry on device lock. Then I configured the Blackberry connect software and got my email through work's enterprise server working. This worked great as well. Then I realized that my POP accounts would no longer send/receive on a scheduled basis. The only way was to force a send/receive. Talking to AT&T, this is a problem. It was recommended to move the POP accounts over to the Blackberry connect side of things to get the real-time synch. Well, I did that, and it works great too. However, the Blackberry mail interface isn't quite as nice as the Windows mail interface when displaying message and the flexibility isn't all there. Does anyone know any work around to get the regular POP mail accounts to schedule properly?? Also, it seems that when Blacberry connect is installed, it overrides the device lock interface and uses the Blackberry version. Unfortunately, this is not the nice big PIN touch screen entry interface and requires using the keyboard. That sucks! Basically, in order to get the Blackberry connect functionality, you end up losing a lot of the nice things about this device. Any work arounds available for the locking interface anyone is aware of?

  • Random questions Is there a way to have my @sprintpcs.com email real time, instead of pop 3 where I have to manually download? I'd like to see it like my girlfriends Blackberry where it comes direct to her phone the second she gets an email.

When I try to configure the Outlook email that it listed in the messaging window, there is nothing to configure. I have to add a new account, but can't do anything with the "Outlook email" that is sitting there.

The backlight on my keyboard doesn't come on and I can't figure out how to get this turned back on.

  • Spontaneous Connection I am real sorry to be doing this, but the deseration of my situation must be showing,I know that reposting under a new heading is just "not cricket" (http//htcwiki.com/thread/926173/hotmail+account) but I felt that my problem was mis-posted (my fault) under a mislabeled subject. My problem is that my Kaiser keeps connecting for no reason to MediaNet for hours at a time. The connection is not followed by email or anything else. It just connects. Have set all emails and Kaiser tweaks to manual check and disconnect after one minute, but to no avail. Anyone else experiancing this? I have an unlimited data plan, but I know that AT$T is at some point going to question this(can you Say tethering?) Thanks Rainman for your help thus far . I am really fustrated by this.........................................Thanks Denco

  • Phone boots up then turns off, boots up, turns off I have this same issue. Additionally, I have had to go through about four layers of customer service. This is because I have a smartphone plan at $19.95 a month, which I use almost exclusively for pulling email off our work’s exchange server, no real browsing. I am about 3/5 of the way through my 2 year obligation. Now that my 2125 died, they don’t want to honor my data plan yet I am obligated to honor my two year commitment. After talking to CS, they will honor it only with a non G3 smartphone . Regarding the fix, I too wonder if there is one out there. My 2125 will actually power on and stay on until I touch any button, at which point it turns off and reboots again on its own. Since I can’t go to the info page I can’t tell which rom or radio number I have. I do know that my os version (or whatever it is) is 2.8.42.22. I was able to reinstall this but it didn’t solve the issue. Afterwards, talked to cingular, they claimed they would push down an update. After a day it started working again for approximately two days and then went back to continually rebooting. This is very unfortunate because up to this point in time, the phone was in perfect shape, never dropped, etc. While this phone isn’t for everyone, it is perfect for me. I use it primarily for a phone and pulling down messages. I do IT so I am primarily only looking for emergency related emails while away from work. This isn’t a phone for someone who does a lot of replying to or creating emails, or even browsing, however being perfect for what I do I want to retain the small size and convenience of this form factor. I bought a partial working 2125, can only talk and hear via Bluetooth but will be buying a full functioning one soon as Bluetooth only can be a pain sometimes. If they try to kick you off a smartphone plan, be sure to call and complain. It is because of the smartphone plan package and form factor that I bought into this sytem and I shouldn’t have to loose it because of equipment failure!!

  • HTC Tilt Battery Comsumption
"It's activesync- it's a real battery hog. Here's a thread that keeps activesync from coming on by itself. It worked great for me.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349051

I still have to shut it down manually after a sync, but this keeps it from coming on y itself"
Active sync also automatically syncs your email. No Active sync, no push email or auto email check.

  • ROM upgrade targeted for November download
    "Go Fuck yourself!"
Not that I approve of the language used to express your thoughts, I'm on the same bus. You buy a Kia and you hope it runs, you buy a Lexus, you expect power, performance, and functionality. This is where the free phone vs the $500 comes in. If we wanted a simple phone, we'd have taken the free one and not spent our money on a luxury device. The free phones don't push email or keep you in constant contact with your business/job. Everyone complaining about the phone has a right since both companies are blaming each other. I sent an email to HTC, they said it's on Sprint, and the other way around. It comes down to the phone should have been tested and retested prior to the release. EVERY aspect of the phone, not just a 10 second check of functionality. While I'm sure that neither company wants the bad press, they've caused it and they are working on trying to fix it, but it's taking a really, really, really LONG TIME! Why didn't most of us return it within the 30 days you ask? Because we received promises of fixes and other wonderful things that were supposed to have taken place months ago. Is it our fault for believing those promises? Yes. Either way, we deserve the fully functioning device that we paid for regardless of what your thoughts are. Why are you even posting if it's going to be negative toward the customers? You wouldn't be here if your phone was working correctly now would you?

  • S640 freezes and has a dim grey screen Folks,

I need your help. I bought an HTC s640 (IRIS) from TELUS last month. I love it ... it's a great phone except...

About every 3 days or so it freezes (however the timing is inconsistant). The phone is asleep, sitting in my pocket. I pull it out and push a button. Nothing happens. I keep pushing buttons and I can usually get it to the point were a very dim grey screen comes up. I have a Outlook Exchange force keylock from my company and the screen light is the same as the password keylock screen.

In the past (although this is rare)... I've pretented that the keylock screen works (instead of the very dim grey screen) and just typed in my password and hit the soft button. The screen very goes to a bright white but still will not render anything.

When this is happening the green hardware light still flashes but I can't receive any calls. To fix it I have to pull the battery.

Other than this event every couple of days .... the phone works great. (even the keylock works fine). I have been told by TELUS support that it is because WM6 is like real Windows and you must shutdown the programs that are not in use to ensure that the keylock program has enough memory available to it.

In order to ensure this wasn't the case I installed a program that resets by phone every night. I also regularly shutdown programs and it still happens.

    Please help me.!!!.

  • Tilt's Camera
"My Tilt has replaced my regular cameras as my email camera of choice as it's just so fast and easy to use. I put my microSD card on a penny for scale to show some friends when I got it. When they found out I shot it the cell phone they were very impressed, me, too. :-)

I do a lot of close-ups with mine. I just move in closer --to approx. 3" from small subjects and move a lamp or go outside so I have good lighting.

There really isn't a zoom (optical) on the thing. There's digital zoom which is nothing more than cropping so I don't use it. Also, it only works in less than 2mp mode (2M). If you just see 1.0x you're probably in 2mp or 3mp mode. Tap on the 1.0X or the Quick Settings Panel drawer (bottom center) and the Quick Settings Panel will pop up from the bottom. Change the resolution to 1M or less and you'll get a tree (close) and group of trees (wide) icons and arrows. Using the D-ring, Navigation button, or tapping the arrows (or icons) will zoom in or out (range varies by resolution setting, S will got from 1-8x, 1M from 1-2x, etc.).

I just shoot at 3M and crop as needed after I have the picture. Have FUN!"
Question on a detail about the Tilt camera. Mine responds very sluggishly. On other phone/PDA 's I've used, the camera takes picture right after I push the button, but the Tilt camera has a long delay time (nearly a second). It feels rather strnage. As a result, I have never been able to take a good shot unless the subject is still. Am I doing something wrong?

  • AT&T TILT: A horrid, horrid variant of the HTC TyTN II
"I knew about the changes to the Tilt before buying it. Few mattered that much to me. I wasn't super happy that they pulled the headphones, miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter, or case though. On the other hand they priced it (with contract) lower than the 8525.

I've been with AT&T for 10 years and wasn't switching carriers so a 2-year renewal was going to happen anyway. Found good prices on the missing items I wanted. Plus, they didn't cripple it so I can add the software they removed back, too.

    Ideally, I want a HTC X7501 Advantage. :-)

What's Windows Live Services though? I've read that it's missing and can be added back but I'm clueless as to what it's for. Thanks."
Windows Live Services replaces Pocket MSN on Windows Mobile 5 devices. It adds the "real" Windows Live Messenger. Some of the advantages are:

    1. Messenger now supports emoticons, like the Oz IM application.
    2. You can now send files and pictures throug the messenger.
    3. You can send voice clips to whomever you are messaging.
    4. From the Messenger, you can access someones LiveSpaces site (similar to MySpace.com).

You will also get Push email from your hotmail accounts when you login. Live Messenger also gives you the option of syncing your Live Messenger contacts with your Outlook contacts. I personally have chosen not to do that. Lastly, unlike Oz IM, Windows Live Messenger works through your wi-fi or data connection where Oz works through SMS text messages.
