I have not been over-involved with mobile phones before. I've always had one - the first being a Motorola MicroTAC.
Recently, Orange, my operator, convinced me to upgrade my phone (they couldn't send me MMS ads on my old Nokia 6310i). I'd been happy with my Nokia, but it didn't have any of the features of the new Smartphones. When I was doing the corporate thing, I had always also had a PDA. Now I have no real need for a PDA so I Iean towards the Smartphone rather than the Pocket PC phones. After studying the market and trying out a Sony Ericsson w810i for a week, I have come to the conclusion that the HTC range is probably the best bang for the buck having features that are useful and cutting edge at the same time. The HTC S710 suits most of my needs for a mobile device. I'm looking for a good messaging system that can handle email without too much fuss. I like to have some music on the go and I would like the device to stream music to my car's audio system so it has to support the Bluetooth A2DP profile. Bonus for me is that Orange is going to bring out the HTC S710 in it's Signature range in Q2 of 2007. The Orange SPV E650 with a AZERTY keyboard (for us Fenchies) is hopefully going to be a great phone. I have a Moblog set up to talk about this phone and to use as a receptacle for info sent in from the phone. The Moblog is set up to be posted to from the phone and I have tested it with my clunky old Nokia. Check out: Doug's Moblog
