Enlarge my background wallpaper and disable "today" screen option

Hi have Dual touch and I want to know who to enlarge my background wall paper to show full screen as at present the "today" menu is taking up half my screen - how do I disable my today screen?

Go to Start-Settings-Personal Tab-Today and choose what you want on the desktop
