Has someone found a way of reading and writing to a USB thumbdrive using the USB cable?

The free application WM5torage allows you to connect to your smartphone as if it were a USB thumbdrive.

How do I enable "pass through" mode so that my smartphone can connect to the internet via the USB cable?

WiFi

Q: Is there a setting to automatically switch between GPRS and Wi-Fi?

There is no automatic switch function to switch between GPRS and Wi-Fi.
Q: I can connect to WiFi, but I cannot pull up a webpage.
1. Click start > settings > connctions > connections > Advanced >Select Networks: Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: Internet"
2. Click start > settings > connections > connections >Edit my proxy server:<br> Disable " This network use a proxy servier to connect to the Internet".



Bluetooth

Q: Can I use handset as a GPRS Modem via USB cable, also connecting it to second computer that has an Internet Connection via Bluetooth, using the pass-through connection?
Yes, you can use handset as a Modem over GPRS to connect your PC via USB cable. Before that you have to install the driver to let PC detect handset as modem and then use default dial-up software bundled in the companion CD including driver. Please refer to the user manual for BT chapter.
Q: I am having problems playing music on my ht820 bluetooth headphones. I paired the headphones with my t dash and it works for phone calls but not for music. Help!


Q: Can I use two bluetooth devices at the same time ?
No, you cannot. You can pair two Bluetooth devices or above , but you can only use one at one time.

Q: Where are the files saved when received file via Bluetooth?
You can save the received files into any directory what you like in your device.

Q: How do I setup a Bluetooth keyboard?
Before using the Bluetooth Keyboard, you have to install the KB driver into your handset and then connect KB with handset for auto-detection. Most BT KB are slave will not work with any USB PDA slave devices because the USB Ports are Slave devices. USB Keyboards are also slave devices and therefore unable to communicate. This issue exists with all USB Slave devices.

Q: Is it possible to sync data wirelessly?
Yes, you can use Bluetooth or Infrared to sync the device with your computer via Activesync.


Q: Can I use my Bluetooth headset to listen music?
The phone and headset must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile.



Storage/Memory

Q:Can I upgrade my internal memory (RAM)?
No, it is not possible to increase the internal memory.
Q: How can I copy my SIM contacts to device?
Go to Start > Program > SIM Manager; Tap Tools > Select All > and Then Save to Contacts.

Contacts

Q: When I get a call from a contact on my phone, sometimes it will show only the number, and not the name. How do I change the name that appears?
The default shows name and phone number under contact window.You can set at Contact->Tools->Options to check the box.

Q: How can I copy my SIM contacts to device?
Go to Start > Program > SIM Manager; Tap Tools > Select All > and Then Save to Contacts.

E-Mail

Q: How do I set up POP3 email on the device?
You will need your username, password, incoming and outgoing server information. See setup instructions for: MDA, SDA, 2125, 8125.

Q: How many e-mail accounts can I setup on my device?
Windows Mobile supports up to eight messaging accounts. Included in these are any ActiveSync, POP3 or IMAP4, Text Messaging and Multimedia Messaging accounts.

Q: Will I be able to ActiveSync with Outlook Express?
No, only Microsoft Outlook is supported. This software is provided with your phone.





10. What types of files can I use as ring tones on my device?


Windows Mobile devices support .wav, .mid, .wma (Windows Media Audio) and .mp3 files for use as ring tones. Note that the larger the ring tone file, the longer it will take to begin playing on an incoming call.



12. How do I quickly scroll through my messaging accounts?

When multiple messaging accounts are configured on the device, including e-mail, MMS and Text Messaging, you can quickly scroll through the accounts by using the left and right directions on the navigation pad or joystick.

13. What should I do if I can't remember my password?

If you cannot remember your password you will have to hard reset your device.



18. Can I share files or synchronize with Macintosh?

No, ActiveSync cannot support Macintosh, but there is third-party software that enables file synchronization with Macintosh.

19. Can I adjust the text size on my device?

Go to Settings > System > Screen and you can change the text size. By choosing a smaller text size it makes reading e-mail, calendars etc much better! (you also need to select ClearType).

20. Can I install programs on the storage card?

Yes. When you are performing an installation with a storage card present, a message will pop up asking if you want to install that specific program to either internal memory or the storage card.

21. How do I customize the start menu?

You can choose which items appear in the start menu. Read more.

22. How do I view how much memory is available?

Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Memory. On the Main tab, the amount of memory allocated to file and data storage versus program storage is displayed, as well as the amount of memory in use versus the available memory.

23. How do I close programs?

Even when you tap the x in the corner of a program, it may still be running in the background, in case you want to pull it up again. To completely exit a program you may need to: Tap Start> Settings > System tab > Memory > Running Programs tab.In the Running Programs list, tap the program you want to close, and tap Stop.
