personalize text messaging?--HTC FUZE

I was wondering if there was anyway to personalize text messages for specific contacts. I see where you can personalize ring tones in the edit contact menu...i thought this would also be the tone for text messages as well, however i was wrong....is there something i could do because i do like to distinguish some from others?? HELP PLEASE Do you find this valuable?
