Google's first phone, introduced on January 5, 2010 and sold only online for $529 (or $179 with T-Mobile). Designed by Google and HTC: a 3.7" AMOLED 800×480 display (PenTile), a Snapdragon QSD8250 at 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, a 5 MP camera with an LED flash, a trackball with RGB lighting, noise cancellation, voice input in all text fields, and Android 2.1 Eclair (the first with live wallpapers) → 2.3.6 Gingerbread. About 500,000 units were sold, a commercial failure for the online model; Google closed the store in July 2010, but the phone set the standard for "pure Android". From summer 2010 a version with a Super LCD instead of AMOLED was sold (Samsung shortage).
