With a Sony Headset
Jan 18 2007, 1:21 PM EST
I have a Sony HBH-DS970. I too had the issue where the Stereo is not real stereo but Joint stereo which is a mono times 2.
It is terrible. I modified the registry to increase the buffer of the bluetooth and also changed a value to make it true stereo.
Now I have true stereo but the sound quality is still terrible. Any suggestions?

Hey there... trying to pair with the Oakley Orokr... I too was getting mixed mono instead of true stereo... I tried these setting and still get a tinnish high pitch echo... any sugestions would be great... I have heard that uninstalling and reinstalling the bluetooth file might work any ideas on that? Does anyone have the originals of these files from the \Windows directoy:

avrcp_mpplugin.dll
bta2dp.dll
sbc.dll

I installed a fix that was meant for the HTC Wizard, and it replaced these files in my Windows directory to older version. If you have these files, please zip them and post here. It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

What a relief. I was a little bent out of shape about the mono on my Sony Eriscon but now it's GREAT.

One question - How do the BitPool settings affect things? A little explanation please. I'm in no way challenging you, just would like to what the BitPool is and does for my own education.

I found this info:

"[HKLM_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]

Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

1 - Join Stereo (Mono)
0 - Real Stereo

To improove Audio Quality modify the following keys:

Dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value Max SupportedBitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)

For BitPool:

Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality

Chose one you like. I think 48 is good enough."

I make the test and the sound is much better than the previous. This cheat really works.

Greetins for all!!
