Yes. I do that outside the house on the patio. I need to have a Wi-Fi connection if I want Google to download the maps to the screen. Or could it be that Telus require the maps data to be downloaded through the cellular links to charge me for the data. Google Maps works fine without the GPS as long as I'm in a range of a Wi-Fi router or connected to my PC with Active Sync. But when I ant to test the GPS Functionality, I must be outside but still in range of my Wi-Fi connection. Is there a way to have Google Maps offline? Is there a free utility that would help me to test the Built In GPS? In the USA the HTC Touch Pro comes with it but Telus remove it in Canada.
