T-Mobile Dialer Help - Pulls up Wrong Contact

So I am new to the T-Mobile Dash and I am having some trouble with the phone. When I type a name in from the home screen, the contact section comes up. The problem is I'll type in SAN and suddenly it will ask me did I mean "Slaivin." It does it with many of the names in my phone and I would rather have it off. Is there a way? Do you find this valuable?
