Sprint HTC Touch Diamond...no ring on email alert, need help!

Does anyone know why when I receive an new email, the alert ring will not work? I've tried everything.

What is everything?
Did you verify that you have an alert set? The volume enabled? Soft Reset? Hard Reset?
Are other audible alerts (calls) working? Need more detail.
