.jar files for HTC Diamond

I'm trying to install a GPS application for my diamond. This comes in a .jar file format, which when I try to install says " There is no application associated with "J2meMap_beta." Run the application first, then open the file from within the application.
Does diamond have a javamachine built in? and if not Do I need to download a java machine to get this to work? (suggestions for a good one?)
