ATT 8525 Windows Mobile 6.1
Aug 2 2008, 6:56 AM EDT | Post edited: Aug 2 2008, 6:56 AM EDT

ATT 8525 apparently needs to update 6.1.to take advantage of a video web site. I would like toupdate to the newest OS 6.1

Where is the update and details to update?

Any body get this update success fully installed on the ATT 8525?

AT&T/HTC has not released 6.1 but says it will soon. Check the Device page and you will see. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Which video site are you trying to access? My HTC 6800 with Alltel wouldn't allow access to Youtube but Alltel was just blocking it to save bandwidth. I found a work-around and have no problems now. I'm using Windows 6.0 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

You can float around http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and find several different home brew or "kitchen" rom upgrades to winmo6. I have an 8125, and am daily proded to upgrade it so I will know how to upgrade another 8125 in my close circle.

As yet, I have found there are two different types of imortance C3/C4 and I have read if you are not carefull you can seriously screw up the device.

I suggest first developing a working backup proceedure. Having perfected that, then thumb seriously through the xda until you find a "kitchen" WinMo6 with the features that suit you. I have spent a couple of weeks familiarising with the new (new to me anyway) Cingular 8125, and doing some light reading. Having built a minimal Knowledge Base I am ready to seriously search out back up proceedures, emergency recovery proceedures, and WinMo6 upgrades.

I would mention in that light reading, I have seen several "Kitchen" rom threads at xda but I have NOT seen links to download the various projects for archival storage and review. A little disapointingly, I did see one caveat that Microcrap demanded roms be removed. Like you could just run down to the WinMo store and buy a 6/6.1 DVD for 400 bux and run it onto your phone and suffer with WGA. Hmm, well that is not really helping.

Go thumb through xga, backup, hackup, enjoy.

HTC and AT&T will not be releasing WM 6.1 for the 8525 or any other previous HTC device; it is only being released for the AT&T Tilt. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Yo, I did a quick look over at xda for myself as long as I had an hour to kill.

This may be of some help, may not. here is a guide and tools for G4, the info will be somewhat applicable to the similar 8525 http://www.mediafire.com/?hzbx043cglm the file host is a little annoying but the DL was full bore so I got a freebie account. I'm getting a little sick of that German file host throttled down to 50. This one sent the file WFO. Now to go see whats in the zip. Just thoght I would drop that linke while I had explorer still open. The origin thread is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394218

The 8525 will not play videos here...

http://wap.aol.com/truveo/

It seems that version 6.1 supports streaming (RTSP) where as with current version
the device does not support RTSP so therefore the videos will not be able to play.

So I am expecting with 6.1 installation I will be able to view this site.

Has anyone tried the Tilt (8925) ROM with the 8525?
I will be replacing my 8525 with the 8925 and will attempt the ROM upgrade to see what happens, unless someone has already discovered the results.

Checking in to see if anyone has had success using the WM6.1 (8925) Rom to work on the 8525. I had a scrap 8525 that still should have worked, but it would not start the ROM Update and kept coming back that the cable was not connected, even though Activesync wasn't having any issues....

Any help would be great...

Well piffle I can't find my reference chart. If the 8525 is a TyTN try looking here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=254

Sorry, had way too much help and can't find anything now.
