Hello
How do you backup the contact list to a desktop pc or a storage card?

"Hello

There are a couple of ways to sync this information:

1. The most common way is to sync with Outlook on your desktop computer through ActiveSync.
2. Purchases a backup program like Sprite Backup

Thanks for the reply Rainman. So, my Outlook now has no contacts (new install). The device has many. If I tell ActiveSync to sync contacts with Outlook, I'm assuming it will copy the contacts from the device and add them to Outlook, as opposed to having the Outlook condition (no contacts) govern and erase the contacts from the device.

I'm also surprised to see that Active Sync doesn't have the Backup/Restore option that I have access to with my PocketPC 2003.

Yes, when you start the partnership for the first time, you can have the phone overwrite what is on Outlook.

Yeah, unfortunately, that was removed with ActiveSync 4.5.

Our problem is that he needs a new device (this one's a lemon). So, when everything's on Outlook on the desktop and he (my son) gets his new device, I'm assuming we can tell ActiveSync to make Outlook overwrite the device, resulting in both having all of those contacts. Correct?

Again, thanks for the help.

So, where can I find info on the process of syncing with Outlook. When I tried, it gave me errors about profiles. I'm confused. Is the process written anywhere?
