2005 BMW 325i Bluetooth and the tilt
Mar 13 2008, 11:19 AM EDT | Post edited: Mar 13 2008, 11:19 AM EDT
When I try to pair my TILT with the bluetooth, I can get the connection, but once I have added the device, if the car is on and the bluetooth is on, the TILT keeps rebooting. Anyone know why this is and how I could fix it?

Is this the only time that the device reboots or does it do it without being paried with your car?
When you say reboot, you mean the the device will completely power off and then come back up and run through the AT&T screen and Windows Mobile Screen?
Have you checked to see if the SIM door is secure (if the device detects that it isnt, it will turn off).

The Tilt has to be paired to the car. If it's paired and the car is on, the Tilt continues to soft reboot (att screen, windows mobile screen). Otherwise the phone works fine. It even pairs with other hands free sets... BMW says it does not support the phone, but I don't understand why I a handsfree system needs to support any phone....

Does your cars BT system have an option to change the state of the phone (like turn it off and on)? The only thing that I can thing of is that the BT car system is sending a command to turn the device on/off.

Nope... I did read that Windows Mobile 6.1 is supposed to work better with in car bluetooth, so when the Rom get's updated for ATT I'll post an update. I did call BMW, and there support for ATT phones was limited to 3 phones, which I thought was lame.... I had a verizon vx6800, and it at least paired (didnt get phone book, but I could use the bt) Its definetly a tilt/winmo thing.

I also use Good Messaging rather than Active Sync. If you use Active Sync I can rule out Good. Do you?

I have the same problem with a 2005 Z4 3.0. The phone does a reboot / soft reset when you pair it...it looks like it does it when it starts to download the phonebook from the phone. I have had a 8125 and a 8525 and both worked great in the car. The Tilt is a different story. Have not found a solution. Will share one if I find one...I would appreciate any help. I have also had the AT&T store replace my Tilt since it was new....but it did not help...so the problem seems to be something with the Tilt and BMW.

funny...I have the same exact problem...2005 Z4 3.0 and I have also had the 8125 and 8525 which worked with no problem in the same car. the 8925/tilt does a soft reboot as soon as it is paired. I just got another tilt phone with WM6.1 loaded and it continues to have the same problem! Very frustrating! Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

No luck here. (330i and continuously rebooting Tilt). I've given up and now use my windshield mounted GPS w/BT for handsfree. I will switch to another phone next chance I get.

I have the same problem with the HTC Pro and BMW M3 2005. The problem is not with BMW but with HTC. Some command that the BMW is sending to the HTC is making the HTC restart. Basically, no error handling on the programming departments part. I am so upset because I paid so much for this phone and it doesn't work.

Well that doesn't surprise me. This is by far the worst phone I've ever owned.
