RE: windows vista Nov 26 2007, 10:32 PM EST You cannot use ActiveSync 4.5 with Windows Vista. As you have discovered, you have to use Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, which you can get here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx I would remove ActiveSync first, then download and install WMDC. After that, it should work fine. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: windows vista Nov 27 2007, 6:56 PM EST Well my friends, it costed me a day... so hopefully I will spare you some time when you encounter similar problems as I did... I posted it here on purpose because it is possible that the topicstarter is also encountering the same issues. My setup is as follows: I have a Windows 2003 R2 server running Exchange 2003, I have a Vista pc with Office 2007, so far so good... I also have a HTC TyTN II which I would like to sync with my pc and exchange server (for contacts, calender and tasks - perhaps mail later when my spam-filter is sufficient trained (I really HATE those spammers), here I caught a problem... My TyTN II would connect to my pc (after installing Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista (see Microsoft site for that)) but the connection to my exchange server was cripple(d), funny part was that, if I disconnected it from the USB cable, I COULD connect and sync. to the exchange server via WiFi... I was a little stunned... after a long search I found out that you need to open up a port on your firewall (inbound TCP port 5721) on your Vista machine, now the sync. runs smoothly... Hopefully someone else can use this info... I have a headache now and going to have a drink with my friend Jack D. ;-) Do you find this valuable? |
