I need help in getting full functionality and use of my 8525 with my 2005 Audi A8 Bluetooth. I have upgraded to WM6 and am able to use hands free. I am not able to upload my contacts or use voice tags or my directory. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on making it work properly.

I had upgraded my 8525 very easily when WM5 got the upgrade but I have been unable to go through the update of the WM6.
First I start the process after sync the machine. I get first a window that says: the file 'wceusbsh.sys' on windows driver cabinet is needed, type the path where the file is located and then check ok'. I have no idea what is being asked. It does not matter if I say 'ok' it won't take anything and if I click 'cancel' the upgrade process continues until I click on all the 'ok' for the upgrade -2 screens where you are being asked to check 'read me' and so one...
After that I finally get an error message '260' which is a connection error. I followed what was suggested in this panel. Restart the computer and reset the phone, sync and all but still same results. Is there some suggestions? Frankly my WM5 works fine so if this is not worth the trouble with the washed out WM6, maybe i should just let it be. Thanks for any input....

The Docs are wrong. You need to plug in the device BEFORE the doc tells you to (before starting the upgrade process, in fact). When you run the update after activesync has established a connection, the screen on the phone will go black, activesync will quit, and the phone's display will change to three big colored bars. You will probably also freak out - DON'T - this is what is SUPPOSED to happen, apparently, even though it is not documented. If you continue to the next screen in the update program, it will try to determine the ROM version on your phone. It will show it as blank - that is OK. Click next and you will see a progress bar show on the phone, and shortly thereafter you will see the progress bar start on the PC as well. Let it do its thing and you will be good to go in about 10 minutes.

With the release of WM6 for the 8525 you can now have a wider choice of memory options, 4gb, 6gb, or the big 8gb memory card. I have tried all the name brand and off brand cards out there. so for what it's worth here's my conclusion (might save you some money and time). If you want a card the will work straight out of the package and continue to work for sometime, then go with Scandisk 4gb, 6gb, or 8gb microSDHC cards. These cards have never given me a problem with speed or reliability, price is up there but then you will get what you pay for. Nothing more plesant then to turn your phone on and find all of your contacts, videos, pictures, and music are gone from your memory card.
Kingston cards would be my second recomendation, lower in price but over all a reliable card, out of 20, 4gb microSDHC cards that i tested 4 arrived D.O.A, and 2 failed to retain information for more than 4 days. The rest worked fine. I personally would stay away from Patriot and ADATA, and the likes of those, very poor quality and reliability. Well hope this information can save you some money and time.

Here is how you Officially Get Live Messenger, AIM, and Yahoo Messenger for WM6!
1. On your 8525 Go to At&t Media Net's home (Programs>Internet Explorer>Favorites>Media Net)
2. Under Categories click on "Mail & Messaging"
3. Under Accounts click on "Mobile IM" - When you do this Your 8525 will prompt you for permission to download a 589KB file called "Mobile_IM_HTC8525_4.1.2CAB" - Make sure you check mark the "open file after download" box then click YES.
4. Once the file downloaded it will ask you for permission to install the CAB file and the location to install it. Choose your "device" as the location and "install"
5. Once the CAB installs you will have "Instant Messaging" under your programs. When you choose it you will notice you have all three Messenger services.
It is all FREE and OFFICIAL from AT&T!!!
Enjoy :-)

After successfully installing WM6, my opened applicaiton automatically closes after pressing the on/off button on the side. (Basically, the phone is on, an application is open, I press the on/off button to turn the screen off and then I press it again to turn the screen back on and the opened application closed). Is anyone else having this problem. Please help. This is the 2nd 8525 phone I have installed WM6 and the same error occurs.
