This sounds like a nice option for internet access on my laptop. Howerver, is this covered under the normal 19.95 unlimitted data plan with cingular? I would hate to be hit with extra charges.

This really does not double as a "modem" in any way shape or form that I can see. Modems always can provide answer capabilities...... otherwise they're only half-useful.

Hi all. I struggled with the EDGE speed that my 2125 delivered until I made the above referenced change in addition to changing the apn on the phone itself. go to settings > connections and change the gprs settings to reflect the above as well.
