Use My 2125 as a Modem
To set up your 2125 as a modem, follow these steps:
Once the modem has been installed, create a new connection on the computer:
- Start > More > More > Accessories > Modem Link
- Select USB under Connections.
- Ensure the Access point name is wap.cingular.
- Click Activate.
- Insert the Getting Started CD that came with the phone. The modem drivers are located on the CD.
- Connect the 2125 to the computer with the USB cable.
- The "Found New Hardware" wizard should appear.
- Choose "Install from a specific location," then search for the best drivers.
- Follow the on-screen installation instructions and select Finish.
Once the modem has been installed, create a new connection on the computer:
- Create a New Connection: Start Menu > Control panel > Network Connections > Create New Connection
- Walk through the Connection wizard:
- Select Connect to the Internet, click Next
- Select Set up my connection manually, click Next
- Connect using a dial-up modem, click Next
- Select Modem - HTC USB Modem (Com7), click Next
- Type a name Cingular GPRS, click Next
- Enter *99# into the Phone number field, click Next
- Enter the User name: [email protected] and Password: CINGULAR1, click Next
- Click Finish
- Click Dial on your Cingular GPRS Connection or from Network Connections rightclick and Connect.
- Your computer will now connect to the Internet via GPRS.

This sounds like a nice option for internet access on my laptop. Howerver, is this covered under the normal 19.95 unlimitted data plan with cingular? I would hate to be hit with extra charges.

Does anybody know where I can find modem drivers for the Cingular 2125 that are compatible with Vista? I can no longer use the phone as a modem for my laptop now that I've upgraded to Vista. Thanks!

This really does not double as a "modem" in any way shape or form that I can see. Modems always can provide answer capabilities...... otherwise they're only half-useful.
