I keep losing the stylus for my 8525. It seated properly for a long time, now it seems to not stay in the holder. Anyone else have this problem and any suggestions on correcting it. I hate using a pen as a stylus and I can't get any sympathy from ATT.

Same happened to me. Iie worked for 6 months then lost 2 in a week) I've not bothered getting replacement stylus as they fell out after I dropped it on that corner and a few crucial microns of plastic evaporated.

hotmail access with ATT 8525 upgraded to Win Mobile 6.0 (page: 1 2) |

I just updated my ATT 8525 to windows mobile 6.0 from your HTA America website.
I am extremely disappointed that there is NO MSN software on the new ROM update. I can not get my hotmail to my inbox even though I can get it in the browser on mobile.msn.com.
There is NO windows Live software on the upgrade to access hotmail outside of the browser. Anyone knows how I can access my hotmail on the Win Mobile 6.0 upgrade ATT8525 without using the pocket Internet Explorer?

I just purchased an 8525. Does anyone know how to add to the list of sounds for the Alarm (possibly use an .mp3)? Also does anyone know where you can get an adaptor to use a 3.5 mm headphone on this unit?

Cellphone microphone too sensitive! |

Thread started: Jul 28 2007, 4:14 PM EDT Watch
I've had more than one person complain that while talking to me on my cellphone that there is a lot of background noise. For example, if at a restaurant they'll say that it sounds like there is a loud TV on in the backgroud, that they can hear me ok, but the background noise is really distracting. Is this a common issue or maybe is just with my unit. Also, is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the Cell Phone microphone? Thanks....

RE: Cellphone microphone too sensitive!

Hi,
My girlfriend and I both have 8525s, and we have found this problem to be nearly worth throwing these piece of shit phones out the window. The window of a moving car. A moving car on a bridge over some water. With the phones covered in flaming gasoline.
The problem has to do with "automatic gain correction". You can hear the gain going UP and (down) in the middle of a steady conversation. The way I read the AGC control panel, that only adjusts AGC for programs which use the microphone to record things. Turning it on or off has no apparent effect on the audio involved in an actual phone call.
HOW DO YOU TURN THIS WORTHLESS CRAP OFF??? I want a microphone volume gain slider, and I want my setting to be cast in stone, like Jimmy Hoffa.
P.S. treo 650 doesn't have this problem. ever. HTC QA Dept: Did you guys ever try to USE one of these phones?

8525 Active Sync Support Code 85020006 after Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade |
3 |
Mar 10 2008, 10:31 PM EDT by Anonymous |
|
|
Thread started: Feb 19 2008, 3:29 PM EST Watch
ISeveral of the devices when plugged into the user's computers via USB get the Active Sync error: Cannot connect with current connection settings. To check your connection settings, select Start, then Settings. Support Code: 85020006.
The device syncs using the data connection just fine, and also is able to access the internet so I know it is not the internet or mail server settings.
The thing is that this device has the exact same settings as another working device but the working device does not get the error when connected to the PC.
I have checked the following settings on the non-working device vs. the working device:
1) Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections > Media Net > Manage existing connections
2) Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections > Advanced tab > Select Networks > Media Net & My Work Network
3) Offline Active Sync > Menu > Options > Microsoft Exchange > Settings >
4) Active Sync > Menu > Schedule
5) Active Sync > Menu > Configure Server
6) Active Sync > Menu > Connections
I have checked the following settings in Active Sync on the PC with device plugged in and connected:
A) File > Connection Settings
B) Tools > Options > Microsoft Exchange
C) Tools > Options > Settings
D) Tools > Options > Schedule tab
E) Tools > Options > Security Tab
F) Tools > Configure Server Source
There is nothing on the MS Websites and all other instructions on other forums are too vague to follow.
Anybody know what to do to resolve this error?

RE: 8525 Active Sync Support Code 85020006 after Windows Mobile 6 Upgr
By: Anonymous, Mar 10 2008, 10:31 PM EDT
hi,
i had all these problems and was getting nowhere. i was running WM 5 with no trouble whatsoever and never quite got round to installing WM6. fear of change or something like that. so, anyway, one day my dopod 838pro suddenly stopped synching with the server via USB to my work PC. it would synch from home through my home wi-fi, but not through work PC. PC IT guy stumpted.
several hard reboots and re-installs of Activesynch 4.5 later, it still wouldn't work.
i then tried to install WM6. alas, getting the same problem.
i've finally lucked out. the following settings work.
on pc try setting as follows:
File > connection settings:
click "allow connection settings to one of the following" and choose com 1.
on "this computer is connected to" choose the Internet.
on PDA File >settings> connections > USB to PC, it is ok to check the "enable enhanced functionality box".
the above works for me. synching is slower than before, but at least it synchs. the problem seems almost totally random. good luck in fixing what is a frustrating problem.
it'd be good if HTC gave some definitive advice. is anyone at HTC listening on this?

I have the HTC TyTN, and not 8525. Does that mean that the ROM upgrade will not work for me? I've tried to run the installer and when it gets to a certain point it closes my Active Sync, so my connection is always lost. Any ideas?

I have the Cingular 8525 version of the phone and just upgraded to WM6. When using the phone, if I enter "**" (i.e. two asterisks) into the keypad, it converts it to a "P". This is a problem as I need "**" to access my company voicemail.

Umm, this should have been the case with WM5. If you hit the Star Key quickly. it is telling the device that you are trying to enter a P for Pause (2 Stars) or a W for Wait (3 Stars). Wait a a second between key presses and you should get the result that you are looking for.

Calculator Image Files for 8525 |

Thread started: Mar 2 2008, 11:40 PM EST Watch
I was wondering if anyone with the AT&T 8525 would be willing to e-mail me the spbcalc_L and spbcalc_P image files for the phone's calculator. These two files are located in the phone's Windows directory, which can be accessed via the File Explorer program. I've accidentally deleted these two image files and am unable to use my calculator without them. I am trying to avoid the hassles of doing a hard reset and having to reinstall and reconfigure everything. If anyone is willing to help me out by e-mailing me these two files, then I'd really appreciate it. I know this is an imposition, but I hope someone is willing to help. Both HTC and AT&T have been absolutely worthless, as they are totally unwilling to assist me in any way with this. It's been frustrating!
