I am looking at getting the htc hd . Can anyone please tell me how it works with Att service. I live in California. Any pros or cons would be great as to this phone and how well it works with Att , also how well it works in general. I really like this phone but not alot I can find out also will it ever be able to use Att 3g service.Thank you

Are the virtual keys (Talk/Send, Home, Back and End) backlit ? In my HTC Touch HD they are not backlit. Any one can please clarify!

Thought I'd share the experiences of using my HTC HD mainly as a GPS on a recent trip to the UK. It was brilliant! I previously had an O2 Exec and a separate SIRFIII GPS. Quite often I'd not be able to connect at times when I really needed to know which direction I needed to go in the Tasmanian bush. I'd used Destinator 6 on the O2 for road navigation and Memory-Map for offroad navigation. Both good. I bought the HD for the inbuilt GPS and found that Destinator no longer existed and that Route 66 looked like the best road nav option. I loaded Route 66 and Memory-Map onto the HD with European road maps and a slab of 1:50,000 Ordinance Survey maps for Memory map for Devon where I intended some walks.

Route 66 was brilliant in getting me out of London and to my hotel in Devon. Without it, I'd be stressed out of my mind! I always carry a little length of stiff wire and used this on the ventilator grill on the dashboard to help mount the HD. Works a treat! I wouldn't even think of navigating the country lanes in Devon without the HD and Route 66. My only complaint would be the slow satellite capture on cold start.

Memory-Map is one of the most intuitive offroad nav programs I've seen (and I've been around for a long while and been responsible for serious mapping). Again, without MM and the HD, I would have covered more territory than I would have liked. It helped me find laneways, bridle paths and footpaths. It was just brilliant.

So, the HD with those nav programs was nothing short of awesome.
