I have attached my T-Mobile Wing/Dash to by computer via the USB cable. I am running Windows Vista (32-bit, official product release on a HP Pavilion dv2500. I have also inserted the original T-Mobile CD containing the drivers for the phone. However, these drivers are for Windows XP (or other versions of Windows, but not Vista). When I connect the phone to the USB cable I get an error:
Windows needs to install the driver software for your Generic RNDIS.
Device driver was not successfully installed.
Generic RNDIS
I called T-Mobile which is no help. I can connect both phone as a bluetooth modem but not USB. How can I get this Generic RNDIS

"Windows Vista uses a software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". The easiest way to obtain drivers (Phone as a Modem or PIM synchronization) is simply plug in the USB to the phone to the computer and run Windows Update. The second way to get WMDC is to go to Microsoft' s website and simply search and get it. Activesync is deemed obsolete for Vista and is replaced by WMDC. For any synchronization issues, they have to go to the PDA department. I'm appalled that nobody in the technical care field can help you, usually they are helpful. Must be new hires or something i.m.o. .

Dash Crash Problems |

Thread started: May 5 2009, 9:08 PM EDT Watch
So I've had my Dash(ROM Ver 1.22.531.6, WM6 CE OS 5.2.1236) for about six months now and I seem to be having this problem every three months:
On my home page, my calendar doesn't display anything (not even "No upcoming appointments"), though if I open the calendar all the information is still there.
I open my contacts list and it is blank (but if I run Sim Manager everything is still there).
The time is not displayed on the home page like it used to be, and it says I have one text message, but I don't.
So the last time I had this problem, these things were happening, plus it would lock up a lot, I wouldn't be able to receive or make calls. It turned my phone into a paperweight. I fixed it by restoring factory settings, but I believe that there HAS to be a better way to do it than that. I have the PHM Registry Editor installed, but I haven't changed anything. If anyone know what causes this, or knows how to fix it - really any information would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I Hard reset my phone at least once a month, ( have auto backup to my SD card every day at 2 am ) because I am constantly online, adding things deleting things. Backing up and cleaning your phone is not a bad thing, if it keeps your phone running at optimal speed.
I also use this, http://www.4shared.com/file/103756674/4e5960b6/ClearTemp-v121.html it clears temporary files from your phone.
and this http://www.4shared.com/file/103755492/2888938d/htcAddicts_cleanRAM_v106.html
to keep my phone clean and zippy.

"Hi, I do have the setting that you recommended - buy the T-Mobile Data isn't the only one... I have these/in this order...
Start>Settings>Connections>GPRS>
1.NEW
2. T-Mo WEB
3. T-Mobile Data
4. T-Mobile MMS
5. T- Zones
I have the 5.99 internet access deal w/ T-moble, and it worked great with my razr v3 then i switched to this dash and no internet no t-zones .... nada!"
Not sure what the Web is for but tzones is for TMO wifi and you should have a stub app for this and not need those settings....
Another thing to check is the connection settings for Internet Explorer; there is a connection setting under Menu in Internet Explorer, make sure that it is set to the TMO Data.

Has anyone had any better success than me with PocketPuTTY? The first version 0.1 worked for me, but I didn't see any way to connect to a non-standard port (anything other than 22, which I do need). The next version "PocketPuTTY 2006-05-04 dev snapshot for WM2003 (latest, highly experimental)" didn't seem to work at all. The latest version dated "PocketPuTTY 2007-02-28 dev build for WM2003 (release)" brings up a "PuTTY Configuration" window where I see it ask for the host name and port #, but the only thing I've managed to do (by pressing right a couple of times) is to highlight the Session tab, and then after that the only thing I could do is to move left and right among the tab list, seeing the different tabs. I saw no way to fill in the information on the tab, nor to attempt to connect, nor to exit the program. (Annoyingly, when I press Home and background this version of PuTTY, I'm not sure how to manually call it up. Worse, though, is that it will occasionally foreground itself.) Anyone know some secret way to interact with these dialog boxes, or any other freeware solution to connect to a different port than 22 using a Dash?

RE: Bluetooth
By: , Dec 31 2008, 10:05 PM EST
Guys, I did a hard reset on my phone and the bluetooth now works!! thats all I had to do. But beware that it totally clears your phone memory! anything that is not on your sim card or a storage card will be gone, including applications that you may have installed. As my phone was new to me I had only installed 2 applications on it and taken a small handfull of photos so it was well worth it to me. (you can also backup the photos and such so you don't lose them of course.) Anyway, I hope this helps someone besides me. Good luck!

My Dash started doing this, and a hard reset would not work. I thought my battery was going bad.
I tried with different batteries and with the SIM card in and out, and it still stayed in the boot up loop. I eventually removed the SD card, and it booted up the first time.

After I type out certain words in any text field the Dash automatically saves the word in the t9 dictionary/Internet Explorer fields. Is there any way to delete or restore the dictionary to factory defaults? Or is there a way to prevent new words from being added to the dictionary?

RE: Delete t9 registry?
By: Anonymous, Nov 6 2008, 2:28 PM EST
I was able to do it, but it took some work. Using ActiveSync, I opened windows explorer and found the following files "eT9Cdb.Cdb" & "eT9Rudb.Rdb". I then COPIED (not deleted, in case I mucked them up and needed them later) them to my desktop and opened them with notepad. They are formatted a bit oddly, but if you look at the correct entries, you can figure out how to search for and delete the misspelled entries without messing up the whole file. Then you have to rename the files, (I appended the numeral 1 to the extension) and save the files back into the Windows folder on the Pocket PC, then (using Total Commander) rename the files you originally copied (here I appended numeral 2), then rename the edited files back to the original name (delete the numeral 1). Finally, a soft reset and I was smiling. Good luck.

Sounds like you need to reload the Operating System since the Hard AReset didnt work. The OS is available from the T-Mobile website. I do not recommend re-installing the 3rd party app's that caused this issue after reloading the OS.

I use the Task Manager to free up memory and if it still does not work, I power the DASH off and back on. Happy Surfing!

Phone function / signal is on the fritz. Help! |

Thread started: Dec 11 2007, 9:13 AM EST Watch
I bought a Dash a while back and loved it. The screen went out on it and TMobile replaced it. The new one worked fine until 2 weeks ago.
Now, I will suddenly lose all signal. It will say "Searching..." for a few minutes, then "Phone Off." And then it's back to "Searching...". Sometimes the device itself reboots itself. It frequently goes back to working fine if I pop out the battery and pop it back in. What the hoof?
Anybody have a suggestion?
