The stereo headset supplied with the T-Mobile SDA just does not work for my ears. I want to use my own but the jack just doesn't work. Anyone know of an adapter for this? (They have them for the TyTN, but I have yet to find one for this phone.)

Fatal Power Flaw - Display ON even after key lock drains battery |

Thread started: Aug 16 2007, 8:40 PM EDT Watch
Even after one locks the SDA keys by pressing the 'End' key for 2 secs, the screen Display and backlight light up with any key depression. This will drain out the battery within 3 or 4 hours if the any key is inadvertently kept pushed in, say by, placing the SDA in its tight holster, in one's pocket or in a briefcase. It happened to me .... the phone keys were locked but some key must have got pushed by stuff inside my briefcase. This a
HTC / TMobile could design a simple s/w fix for it if they wanted to. Simply, require that the display & backlight will power on in the keylock mode only after 2 (or 3) quick successive key depressions. Such a fix would prevent a pressure from holster or briefcase from power up the display or the backlight.
T Mobile does not plan a s/w update for the SDA since it is now discontinued (Aug,.g. 2007). However, I did call in to HTC and T Mobile with the above problem and the recommended fix on Aug. 14, 2007. One can only hope that the HTC will find it in its best interest to fix this fatal power waste problem. (It is not realy a T- Mobile issue because I see it as a s/w design flaw and not a feature shortfall).

I have an unlocked T-mobile SDA and I am trying to use other Wifi access points to go online, IM, etc.
are there special settings I must use? I am on the AT&T/Cingular network. I'm trying not to use the internet from Cingular/AT&T
is there a way to force the internet to go through WiFi only?

Pay as you go is lots more espensive than small data plans. Keep that in mind. being that the case, then again, my suggestion would be, go into CONNECTION SETTINGS... GPRS... You will see one or more connections in there. In my case with Suncom Wireless I got 3 (iNet, iLink, MMS) If you go in the settings of each and add anything to the "access point' line, that will give a Connection error if trying to connect via GPRS. Whenever you do want to you it, go manually and undo the changes you did and your good to go.

RE: How to replace SDA face plate
By: , Feb 13 2008, 2:48 AM EST
I've put mine apart several times; it’s tricky, but not impossible. I'll try to explain. First let’s keep in mind this phone is basically 4 parts (1 battery cover, 1 top cover, 1 face plate, 1 back plate and the motherboard).
1. Start by removing the battery cover, battery, sim and memory card.
2. Remove top cover (where cam is) by sliding a small thin flat screwdriver by the sides, from bottom towards top (as if you were ridding the screw driver thru the sides where the battery cover slides in) and gently twist it. You need to do this on both lower ends of that top cover and it will pop off.
3. There are 6 screws total. 2 under that top cover and 4 in the battery compartment (1 is hiding under security seal). Remove all 6, notice they are different size. Remember the 2 small ones go in the center when assembling back.
4. Using a credit card or similar plastic object, slide it between back plate and face plate. Start near the Cam soft key, move down towards the mini USB. There are approximately 6 points (3 on each side) where bottom attaches to the top, so play with it till you get the sides slightly open.
5. Once sides are popped open, look inside; you need to unplug the cam. Gently pry it up off the socket.
6. Slide back plate down (keep your eyes on the mini USB, it tends to stick there) and put it aside. There is another plug that comes from the keyboard (face plate) that needs to be carefully unplugged from the motherboard.
7. LCD is connected to the mother board, so when removing the motherboard, be careful not to mess up the LCD connection and wiggle it gently till the LCD separates from the face plate lens.
8. Avoid touching the LCD or inside of the faceplate lens, as its a pain in the butt to clean them and leave them w/o marks.
9. Assemble back in reverse order. Beware when placing back the LCD on the face cover. Make sure it sits perfectly in place. Don't force anything, it all falls in place.

SDA as a Modem with Windows VISTA |

SDA does work as a modem with XP, the HTC Modem Drivers work for the MDA and SDA, they are universal.
It seems when Windows was updated the MDA got a specific driver, but cannot find one for the SDA.
I dont believe the SDA can be used as a modem on VISTA.
Even if you use the MDA driver for VISTA with the SDA.
SDA wont work with VISTA!

Ive had this phone for about 9 months, about 4 months ago, when i would power up the phone nothing would happen and the red LED would come on. I would take out the battery, same thing. I would do this several times until for some random reason, it would work fine. This happened for about a month, then one day it never came back, now the only thing it does is shine the red LED whenever power is fed to it. The USB on the computer wont see it so i cant flash the phone or anything. Its always been kind of buggy, but nothing a cold restart wouldn't fix.
Anyone have any ideas?

It's my understanding that the good folks at T-Mobile had HTC pull off the software update link. They don't want to share their updated sofrtware even with owners of the device.

From what I understand these new SD cards are NOT backwards compatabile, but I can't say I know of anyone specifically trying it with the SDA, I'd be curious to know for sure myself...

T-Mobile SDA Tips & Techniques |

Thread started: Dec 29 2006, 8:33 PM EST Watch
I posted this on the 2125 wiki since I'm a singular customer but the phone actually began life as a T-Mobile SDA so I'll post it here as well.
I’ve a set of tips and techniques I’ve found most useful to Http://mvdirona.com/SmartPhone. Included are registry hacks, app unlocking advice, home screen mods, key mapping changes and other little nits I’ve found useful. Including how to remap the T-Mobile "special key". I set mine to go straight to a search engine.

Auto silent annoyance |

It seems that the phone always returns to silent mode after I turn off my bluetooth headset. VERY annoying, but at least I now have a shortcut for turning the ring back on.
[reposted comment by Jonathanpeterson; original page deleted for duplicate content.]
Reply:
the device is simply changing from your bluetooth profile back to the phoen profile - you need to change to NORMAL or whatever profile you want when your bluetooth is NOT connected. Also FYI - there is no "slient" mode while the bluetooth is connected - you have to modify the bluetooth profile to be silent if that is what you want.

I have recorded video using SDA and I can playback video and audio successfully on the phone. When I transfer MP4 files to desktop and play on Windows Media Player 11, I can't hear any audio. I think I am missing a codec required for audio playback but I don't know which one I need. I have installed 3ivx to play back MP4 in Windows Media Player.
Any ideas?

Follow up: The problem is related to audio codec (AMR Narrowband) used by SDA to record MP4 file. I was able to successfully play the file on another computer running Quicktime + iTunes. So, it seems that Quicktime and iTunes includes audio codec needed to play the files.
It would be nice to convert the file to a format that can be universally played on Windows Media Player. I want to investigate ULead, FFDShow, Mobile AMR Converter, Pinnacle Studio, and mp4cam2avi to find optimal solution. Does anyone have experience with any of these converter tools?
