RingTone Volume |

Has anyone noticed that the ringtones play at a lower volume than the same file played through windows meda player. On my Cingular 3125 there is a huge difference in volume level between the two methods. As a ringtone the volume is a bit low, and quite hard to hear sometimes. As compared to playing thru windows media player where it is so loud the sound is distorting!

I know this is an older post, but I recently had the problem lately on the HTC diamond where the volume was almost inaudible in a complete silent room.
It seems as though SPB Mobile Shell's profile volume is separate from WM's volume, so if you are having this problem you could try downloading the mobile shell demo and change it through the profile tab in the carousel. Hope this helps.

I can do it myself I just need the actual connector. I can't charge or sync it. If anyone knows of an OEM site or reseller that would sell component level items like that could you either reply or send me a PM please? Thanks!

For reasons I don't understand, I now have two rogue icons at the top of my home screen, both of them w/ a Windows logo in a white icon with a fold in the upper right, and when I click I get: ALERT: Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename. I don't recall making any shortcuts, nor can I find these 2 unconnected icons on the phone or in the Active Sync presentation of the phone files. I just want to ditch them. Any ideas? I have a Motorola Bluetooth earpiece, but cannot get it to work with the phone. I find nothing helpful in the user manual on setting this up. Bluetooth is turned on, and the blinking blue light indicates it is working, but nothing I do to the headset will let me answer a call. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Problem with random rebooting |

Thread started: Dec 13 2006, 7:57 PM EST Watch
Every couple of days, I'll be walking along with my Star Trk in my pocket, and I'll hear it play the sound it plays when booting up. When I look at the screen, sure enough, it's booting up. I keep the phone in a pocket by itself, so it's not getting in a fight with my keys or anything, and it isn't prefaced by me bumping into anything or any other kind of shock to the phone. I never hear it shutting down, only booting up. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried about my phone just randomly rebooting whenever it feels like it?

I have this phone and have the same problem. Its stupid how easy it is to have the cover come off when pulling the phone out of your pocket, and when the cover comes off it turns off the phone. My cover barely stays on. I hope its not too hard to find a replacement cover. was upset it was not covered in warranty...

Our company bought (12) 8925's and we've had 5 back covers break. You talk to HTC and they say it's NOT a known issue and therefore NOT covered by warranty. At this point it ought to be!

I did not have this issue until I decided to upgrade the rom thinking any update is a good thing. WRONG! I loved my phone up until that update... Immediately after the update, phone started loosing contact with the micro device (not seeing the storage card) and rebooting it self while sitting on my desk at work. Alarm is acting funny, I keep having to shut it off several times which I never had to do before. Funny thing is that I have to re boot the phone to see the storage card again. It will work for a while then disappears. Yet when the phone reboots itself it is not the same as me rebooting to get the card back. I read the postings about the battery cover and the little switch, micro card not sitting right etc. But I am telling you I did not have any of these issues until the rom update. I am desperately looking for a way to revert to the original version. Couldn't find a tread on that. Hard reset only erases my data, won't revert back to the original ROM version...... If anyone knows how to flash with the previous version, pls let me know. Tamer

A couple of problems |

Thread started: May 14 2008, 8:47 PM EDT Watch
I have the camera-less version of the phone (Cingular 3100), and I've got a couple of niggling problems.
1) Missed calls - every now and then, the phone does not register calls. It's connected to the network; it's powered; but calls do not go through. Even worse, I don't get the alert that I have a voicemail waiting when this happens. Nothing shows up on the call register, but I have a mailbox full of messages from frustrated callers. I've tested it myself, and seen the problem, but I can't seem to fix it. I tried updating the ROM with the HTC download, but this hasn't helped. It's intermittent but very annoying. Any suggestions?
2) Alarm only beeps once - after I downloaded the ROM update, the alarm function started acting strange. Where once it would ring repeatedly and allow a sleep option, it now beeps once and switches off. What happened? I depend on a phone alarm when I travel, and this now doesn't work. Again, any suggestions.
I love the phone's functionality and form factor, and needed something that doesn't have a camera. This fits the bill and syncs well with my Outlook contacts, but I'm finding ownership a little bit frustrating. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Unable to mute or stop SMS message ringtones during playback |

Thread started: Dec 13 2006, 3:37 PM EST Watch
If I set a longer ringtone (MP3 or MIDI) to ring when I get a new SMS there doesn't seem to be a way to stop the ringtone short, you have to let it ring all the way through. Test this by setting Jig as you SMS ringtone and send yourself a SMS and see if you can figure out how to stop the ringtone before it finishes, short of turning the phone off that is. I have server monitors that send out SMS messages when there is an issue, 24x7, so I need to have a ringtone that is long enough to wake me up but I also need to stop it when I'm awake.

Stange Keypad Behaviour |

Thread started: Apr 2 2008, 11:44 PM EDT Watch
Suddenly my 3125 started to ignore pressing function keys under the main display. They still cause backlight to come on and text above (showing function) to change color but no execution of function takes place. Additionally number 0 on the keypad causes works as no 5. I wanted to reset the phone but since function keys are not working in UI I can’t get to the correct menu. Also when trying to hold the function keys during powering on - actually does bring the black screen with text prompting to press 0 for reset - but pressing it does nothing. Is there any other mean to perform the reset?

Uninstalling "Cingular Xpress Mail" |

Thread started: Mar 29 2007, 3:19 PM EDT Watch
Has anyone else had issues trying to uninstall this program from their 3125. I used the "Remove Programs" in second menu of "Settings". But once i uninstall the program i constantly keep getting a "Notification Error" that reads "Cannot execute /Program Files/Cingular/Xpress Mail Smartphone Client/calview.exe". Also the fact that on the home screen where it once said "Xpress Mail Claendar Please register your device" it now says something to the fact "Click here to install Cingular Xpress Mail". It is a program i just don't want and just wont go away. Dose anyone have a solution or am I SOL?
p.s. I even called cingular about this and they told me the only way think that might work is to do a factory restore, yet this program came on from the factory, so it shows how much they know.

For the past 6months+, I noticed a problem on my phone [Cingular-3125].
Phone is working fine, as long as I don't enable the blue tooth.
I tried all possible fixes suggested by support and in user forums, but no use..
Options tried: Cold boot, ROM upgrade suggested by HTC support.
If anybody having the same problem and know the solution, please let me know.
Thanks,

Conceptually, this is a great phone, but I have had far too many problems with it. Goes off randomly, windows media player does not work properly, etc. I thought upgrading the ROM would solve these problems, but now the phone won't even see my 2Gig storage card. Very frustrating!

had same problems
fix the power off problem with a little pice of paper and some tape, if you remove the batt cover you will find a little micro switch at the bottom right tape a piece of so that the switch is held down rebooting porblem solved
the storage card problem can be solved by slightly bending the pins that connect to the memory card but rember if you then remove the card the pins will ground out on the cover (i just put a pice of tape on the back side of cover so that it would not short out any more)
I have not had one reboot shut off or loss of memory card after doing this
