After a hard reset, the LCD or touch screen does not respond. A screen display to align or calibrate also do not work.
Do I need to replace the LCD or are there other solutions to make the touch screen work ? Appreciate your help on this. Thanks

RE: LCD or Touch screen not working
By: , Today, 9:57 AM EDT
Hi, I have the HTC touch from bell. I too had the same problem with my screen. It stopped working completely. The phone is pretty much useless without the touch screen working, there is only 3 buttons on the phone! Can't even dial 911... So I was pretty pissed when the screen stopped working. Like others I searched the internet for answers and didn't really find too much. I found that maybe tapping the four corners of the screen firmly might work, but it didn't. Taking the protective cover off the screen might work, didn't work. I tried updating the ROM, using the official software from HTC website. I was able to update my phone, but my touch screen still didn't work. Someone said something about some copper connections inside the phone, need to be re-adjusted behind the screen or something like that. So I willing opened the phone (only 4 hex screws on the back) and took the front plastic cover off. If you look closely, you'll see the front cover is plugged into the 'motherboard' and you can simply unplug it. I unplug it and plug it back in, do a restart of the phone (take battery out and back in) and still nothing, screen doesn't work.
I noticed that on the front cover of the phone (underneath) you can see the copper band of wires that connect to the buttons and probably feeds the information from the touch screen to the 'computer'. I accidentally unplugged the wire (thought I broke it) but was able to insert it back in. I put the the cover back on, put the battery in, power up phone, BINGO! Touch screen works! What I did to make it work? Not sure...
But for people with the same problem. Try this:
1) update ROM
http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=70&cat=2&dl_id=98
2) Unplug and plug back in that little wire.

Its the red circle I'm talking about.

I can see that joining this site might help. I have a qtek 1010 for 3 years and it works great does all the stuff I need. But now my qtek 1010 is not charging after that someone mistakenly put a Ipaq 12v battery adaptor into my Qtek. I was told by experts it was dead but I pressed the reset button a couple of times and it worked except it doesn't charge. Pinsout.ru showed mw that the himalaya connector on my phone is wired differently than the ipaq so i need, maybe a curcuit diagram, HTC will not give this out they sent me here. Anyway can anyone assist me in my hour of need.

hiya! I hope this aint to late lol, but I came across this post while looking for a solution for the same problem. You can manually try a factory reset. This worked for me, if you have your stylus you should be able to unclip or unscrew it somehow, and it should have a clip or wire to do the reset make sure all contacts are backed up to the simcard and any applications or work u have installed or saved to the phone are backed up, i lost everythin. Sorry I got this info off the friend that gave the phone to me and my explanation is a little disjointed.
if you have your manual check it for the reset instructions, I did mine the wrong way lol.

"Go to: http://buzzdev.net/
register and you will have full access to download area, go to download section, choose your models and in ROM's section you will see WM2005. Download latest version (2.01a32) of WM2005, in the downloaded archive you have full upgrade instructions. After upgrade no more warranty, take care. Also interesting site with lots of help: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
"
I'll 2nd that re Buzzdev.net as an excellent place for WM5 ROMs (though please note that they are all only beta versions for development purposes onyl as HTC has not issud an official WM5 upgrade and I understand are unlikely ever to do so. Be advised that while the quoted ROM in the reply above is currenlty one of the most stable of the many beta WM5 versions out there, all do have differing issues with them and are under continuing development). Alternatively familiarise yourself with www.xda-developers.com too. Many of the same experts float in both buzzdev and xda-dev forums and the latter's wikis are a huge and excellent indepth compendium of HTC knowledge ((e.g.for WM5 ROM overview look at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Himalaya_2005 then navigate to the xda-developers forums and read the latest info (yet to make it into the wiki).
If you are looking for an officially issued ROM upgrade (i.e. not WM5) e.g. from WM2003 to WM2003SE, there are three approaches I can think of:
a) via the HTC website (http://www.clubimate.com/), register and go to Club Support then updates/ downloads etc or
b) go to your service provider's website (where you got your phone/SIM card from) and look for any updated ROMs they have released, or
c) go to xda-developers.com (and its associated wikis e.g.for WM2003SE http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Different%20Customized%20WM2003SE%20for%20HIMALAYA). There is a longer list of officially issued ROMs from various service providers (sorry you'll have to search for that yourself as I'm a WM5 user)
Read all you can about how to upgrade (the process does come with risks including reducing your device irreversably to a pretty brick, losing certain functionalities (i.e. gaining a few bugs on old features while adding new features) and/or invalidating any warrantee left) depending upon whether it is an officially released upgrade (options a) and b) or a developers beta (test) version (option c).
