8525 Active Sync Support Code 85020006 after Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade |

Thread started: Feb 19 2008, 3:29 PM EST Watch
ISeveral of the devices when plugged into the user's computers via USB get the Active Sync error: Cannot connect with current connection settings. To check your connection settings, select Start, then Settings. Support Code: 85020006.
The device syncs using the data connection just fine, and also is able to access the internet so I know it is not the internet or mail server settings.
The thing is that this device has the exact same settings as another working device but the working device does not get the error when connected to the PC.
I have checked the following settings on the non-working device vs. the working device:
1) Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections > Media Net > Manage existing connections
2) Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections > Advanced tab > Select Networks > Media Net & My Work Network
3) Offline Active Sync > Menu > Options > Microsoft Exchange > Settings >
4) Active Sync > Menu > Schedule
5) Active Sync > Menu > Configure Server
6) Active Sync > Menu > Connections
I have checked the following settings in Active Sync on the PC with device plugged in and connected:
A) File > Connection Settings
B) Tools > Options > Microsoft Exchange
C) Tools > Options > Settings
D) Tools > Options > Schedule tab
E) Tools > Options > Security Tab
F) Tools > Configure Server Source
There is nothing on the MS Websites and all other instructions on other forums are too vague to follow.
Anybody know what to do to resolve this error?

** converts to P, on Phone After WM6 Upgrade |

I have the Cingular 8525 version of the phone and just upgraded to WM6. When using the phone, if I enter "**" (i.e. two asterisks) into the keypad, it converts it to a "P". This is a problem as I need "**" to access my company voicemail.

"I have the same problem. I am unable to wait a couple of seconds to generate the second * tone, because the company voicemail requires quick consecutive **. I understand adding the * in a preset to generate a pause or a wait, but that seems to me to be a text entry question. If programming in a text entry it is easy enough to just wait to enter the second *. So the need for quick ** entry is in tone generation not in programming entry. Is there a way to change this via software update or is there a work around way to generate ** via alternate key push?"
OH, I am on a Diamond Touch, BTW.

Upgrade Blank Screen Issue |

Thread started: May 29 2007, 8:33 PM EDT Watch
So this is not the same as the other "Blank Screen" issues only because I was not having this problem prior to the latest Upgrade
At any rate... if the phone sits idle for a while and I go to hit the Power Button... nothing happens. It just sits there with a blank screen. If I press and hold the Power Button like I am turning it off... nothing happens.
The only way to get the phone back is to perform a soft reset which is fine but I was wondering if there was some known issue with the latest update and the Phone just not responding
I have tried to synch it with my computer but the computer does not find the device so it is almost like the phone powers down. Like down down... but it is still on... does that make sense?

When you restored your data after the upgrade, did you do a full restore of all personal and system data? You should only restore personal data from backup. 6.0 system data clashes with 6.1 system data

I just recently bought a Cingular 8525 and am having no luck with setting up my bluetooth headset. I have a SE HBH-PV705 and a Blue Ant X3. When I click on "New Partnership....".......I cannot detect either of the headsets. Is there anything special that needs to be done besides turning bluetooth on and trying to discover. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to download a 3rd party Comm Manager with a 3G switch, This is the one I have:

"Hi everything.
I've tried everything above and it still doesn't work using Windows Alarms"1st step:convert mp3 file to wav
2nd step:put it in windows folder
3rd step:go to clocks and alarms
4th step:click the bell icon
5th step:under play sound select the list of drop down sounds
6th step:use ur stylus to hold the file(do not let go, or else it will go back to default)
7th step:press ur dpad (the button in between the green and red button) to select the file"
This doesn't work as when it's time for the alarm goes off there is simply no sound. I also turned the VIBRATE on and that still doesn't work.
I have downloaded Spoonalarms but it's a little sketchy as the first 2 times it went of the phone crashed and needed a restart. It also doesn't have the handy feature of choosing specific days for the alarm to go off.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
M

yea, it didn't work for me too. any other suggestions?

I would appreciate your guidance on this matter.
Thanks a lot,

"I just purchased a SanDisk 8 gb microSDHC card from TigerDirect. My 8525 has windows Mobile 6.1 installed on it. It seems to recognize and write to the 8 GB flash. To reduce the chance of problems, I took the following steps. 1. put 8GB microSDHC in my Laptop's flash port. 2. Put my old 2 GB flash into a USB flash reader. I let my laptop move the files over from my old 2 gig to my new 8 gig. Popped the 8 gb microSDHC into my 8525, and Voila' It booted right up, and was recognized as 8 GB (Actual disk space was 7782.65 Mb ). "
How were you able to get windows 6.1 on your 8525 is it an official rom? I have been searching for one for my phone since they came out with 6.1 I haven't tried the unofficial ones yet incase they do come out with the original. if so please post the link if possible. thank you

I had this same issue with this phone when i first got it. i aquired it used from a friend who gave me a good price because of the problem. I've also seen post on other sites about the same problem and luckily the solution was pretty simple. Apparently, the external speaker connector is either not seated properly during assembly or comes loose from handling. Either way it will cause intermittent or total sound lost. Check this out to see how to take of back cover...
http://www.howardforums.com/printthread.php?t=1152710&page=1&pp=15
Took about 15 mins to fix and havent had a problem with the sound since.

I never had this icon show before, and now it's always on. It's next to sound level icon in the upper right corner. It looks like a clock and actually changes hands. I think it's meant to be a minituare clock (so minituare it is actually useless to tell time). But unlike other icons nothing happens when you tap on it.

Updating to WM6 from Windows Vista with Windows Mobile Device Center |

Thread started: Nov 15 2007, 5:40 AM EST Watch
Using Windows Vista here. Microsoft Windows Mobile ActiveSync page says ActiveSync 4.5 will not run on Windows Vista, but to instead use Windows Mobile Device Center. WMDC does not connect to my phone. Windows, after about 3-5 minutes of trying to figure out what the device is, gives up and says something about an unrecognized USB device. My phone beeps with an error saying it could not get an IP address from the server. The RUU update for WM6 says something about ERROR 260 CONNECTION, explaining it could not establish an ActiveSync connection. I've tried installing the WMDC Driver Update v6.1.6965 for AMD64. I may have connected the phone before installing WMDC, so now I'm uninstalling and reinstalling the WMDCDU and WMDC. And voila, same differrence, USB device not recognized.
