Anyone else have their phone just randomly power off for no good reason? I turn the thing back on and the battery is fine. This is annoying.

RE: 3125 power down for no good reason
By: Anonymous, Dec 31 2008, 1:05 AM EST
I had a CIngular (HTC) 3125 that did the same thing. The back cover was loose and would cause it to reboot anytime it moved the wrong way. I still have the phone and I need a new back cover to get it to work. Tech support had me reboot the phone by removing the back while the phone was on. I had to do it so many times the catches broke off. I now have an IPhone 3G. Much better.

You can also often recover from the cold boot screen by pressing and holding the start & contacts buttons (the two small dashes - - at the top of the keypad) while also pressing the red "on" button. It takes a little dexterity, but it works when mine boots up in that mode.

My phone used to play an alert for my calendar reminders. I went on vacation and didn't have my phone with me most of the time (no service) and when we got back I noticed that my phone doesn't play sounds or display reminders for calendar items. Everything else seems to be working fine. I checked the sound settings and it is still set to play a sound for reminders. Why isn't it working??

Phone Off |

Thread started: Nov 26 2006, 2:53 PM EST Watch
I was wondering if you could assist me. Cingular telephone support has been fantastic, but after getting kicked up to their second level support, all they know to do is send me to get a free replacement phone. This is too time consuming, and I have my phone set up exactly how I want it this time and don't want to exchange.
My problem is simple. The phone goes to sleep. It even says "Phone Off" where it usually says Cingular. I have now confirmed that other than a master reset (where I also lose everything), the only way to wake up the phone is to try and make a call, and then the device will tell me it is off and ask me if I want to turn the phone on. Simple enough fix, but you have no idea how long the phone has been off, and all your incoming calls go right to voice mail.
Is there some way to update the "firmware" or some fix anyone knows?
Brian

"Is the red flashing light for when the battery is dead? My phone was completely changed this morning and now I all I get is the windows mobile screen and the red flashing light. I'm just hoping my phone is all messed up. "
Try taking out the battery for 20 sec. or so and re insreting it. If that doesn't work try a soft reset. Then try a hard reset as a last resort. as a hard reset will wipe all the data from your phone.

"just checking if there's any update or fix for this? My touch pro stopped charging as well. "
I have an MDA Vario which would'nt charge - the LED indicator glowed RED. Also couldnt boot up because there wasnt enough charge to get me to the 'today' screen. Now, this link provided a few ideas, especially for 'jump starting' the phone battery. I tried it from a 9v battery as described by "Deliman31" and it got me to the AC charge state where the LED now glowed AMBER to start with, and as the charge progressed (about 90 mins for a full charge) the LED glowed GREEN.
Here's this guy's suggestion: http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/2055
So far, so good. MY problem, is that having charged to full (100%), and switched the mobile on, although I could use the functions (make calls, sms...etc) the CHARGING INDICATOR at the bottom right of the screen STILL showed the 'plug' icon - as if it's still ON CHARGE (via USB or AC). My guess is that the battery is draining from somewhere. The right LED should be 'blinking' green but it's CONSTANT AMBER - not blinking.
When I check the battery info (tap the charging icon) I get the flow of charging from 0 - 100% as if it's on charge - IT ISN'T.
Any further ideas?? It's a new battery...oh, and the charger is functional

Bought the Kingston 2GB microSD card. Got into the phone; pulled out the SIM; opened the silver door, It was empty. Tried to put in the SD but the door won't close. The card will fit nicely in place so it appears to be the right size.
Am I doing something wrong? Who designed this thing?

"the card needs to slide down on the inside of the door. This way it is actually attached to the door."
Well, that was an amazingly easy fix.

To hard reset you have to hit the two menu buttons and the reset button and confirm that you want to do it. I have tried hard resetting it, updating the rom and it still does it. It seems to happen a lot when the phone is "warm" in my pocket for too long, that is when the problem seems to be the worst. It still happens off and on even if it's not too warm.

How do I turn off the drop down letter prompts when creating an appointment or text message? I just want ot choose the individual letters from the keypad, and not have to scroll down to choose the letter. Plus this feature puts extra spaces between letters. I don't know how this feature turned on and I can't find a link to turn it off. Cingular 3125 phone. Thanks.

Hi... glad to discover this group, hope someone knows the answer to this, probably simple question. Is there a way to have my contacts preset to display only my "business" contacts?
