    ATT Tilt: Unresponsive Start Button

Update: This issue is resolved in the lastest ROM update for the AT&T Tilt which was released on Feb 15th 2008.

From time to time, the Start Button/bar may become unresponsive and even show a different page title (such as calendar, email etc.)

Users may perceive these instances as the touch screen being unresponsive or the device is freezing when in reality; the device is just processing a command (which is why there is no response).

The workaround and troubleshooting steps for this issue is are as follows:
    • Wait for the device to complete the action (should only take a few seconds).
    • Soft Reset the device if the device does not return to normal operation after a few seconds.
    • Check the device for available memory; at least 5MB free in each Storage and Program Memory is recommended for the device to operate properly.
    • Rule out 3rd party application conflicts by removing said applications and retesting.

At this time, the issue will not be resolved by exchanging the device however, this issue is slated to be corrected in the first maintenance release for this device.

Purchased a new ATT Tilt 11/10. Associated to and synced with Vista PC, added NO software. Charged via USB all night. Could not wake 11/11. Removed battery and started without incident. Used unit 11/11 and morning of 11/12 it would not wake.
Seems to be good phone otherwise. I do not believe that promising a resolution with first maintenance release (no release date given) is sufficient. This is a significant problem as phone calls cannot be received - unacceptable situation for someone in medicine!!

You don't need to soft reset. It looks like powering the device off and on does the trick as well.
