Disappearing "Messaging" apps |

Just bought new AT&T TIlt last tuesday. Had something weird happen last Friday. It appears the messaging application vanishes for no apparent reason. hitting the messaging hard key, or touching messaging in Today window or even the send text message icon in tool bar does nothing. Even though it was working fine for days. No response to power cycle, battery pull etc. Took to AT&T store, did soft reset. No effect at first, but then 2nd try, everything back and working after reboot. Until last night. Same thing again. Now working again, but really a pain w/numerous soft resets required and came back again just before I was preparing to wipe the thing w/hard reset and start all over.
Just wondering if this is my device or anyone has seen this. Seems wonderful (compared to 8125) but so far this is very unreliable experience for email/text services.

"Same issue as above but I think I found the real problem/solution. In file explorer, there were 2 folders on the card called "Inbox.mst299...". I only remember there being one previously. I deleted them both and BAM....messaging is back and working. When I checked the card again, there was only 1 folder named like before.
Please try and give your reports."
I deleted both files as well. Messaging worked soon after. The messaging button still malfunctioned. I then went to settings/personal/buttons then redirected the button back to messaging. Problem fixed.
This new 6.1 update seems to be fuzzy.

I just bought my Tilt and had it unlocked to work on the T-Mobile network. I added the internet plan to my phone which is working fine. However, when I attempt to send an MMS message it will not allow me to. This also goes for connecting to AIM or Yahoo messengers (apparently the phone cannot use a wifi connection to do this). Does anyone know how to put the correct settings into this phone? I have heard that T-Mobile doesn't really give help for unlocked devices, so I'm hoping to find the answer here. ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME. Thanks!
Ps. I encountered a problem when attempting to go to http://my.tmobile.com ... It will load for a few seconds and internet explorer page just disappears. Any thoughts?

Have you gotten info on this problem? Any success at fixing it? I am having the same issue - I finally got AIM loaded and when I actually went to sign on, it tells me that it cannot work on a WiFi connection. When can I use it then? thanks!

I have downloaded from my PC to my Tilt by a USB chord wallpapers. When I choose the wallpaper to use it, it seems to be in "tiled" form. How do I get it centered? Also, is there any way of changing my font color for my main screen items and start menu items?

I just purchased the new AT&T Tile from AT&T and in the book they provide for you it states that you are suppose to be able to set your mp3 songs as ringtones. So of course I'm excited. So I tried it and of course it doesn't work. AT&T referred me to HTC cause it's nothing that they can do about. Then HTC says there is a problem with the version Windows Mobile 6.1. Is there anyone who knows how to put your mp3 songs as their ringtones

What are you talking about? Make sure the file is mp3 or wav or compatible with your phone. Go into file explorer to your SD card or where ever you have it stored. Tap and hold on it , when the menu comes up tap set as ringtone. Voila.
Just to make sure , I had my 4 year old son do it several times. Worked everytime.
As far as carrier companies keeping the file sizes down, blame the greedy recording industry, and these vacuous pop stars and " rap " stars in their million dollar home and big fancy cars. If these companies didn't keep ringtone under the radar, how long do you think it would be before every greedy pop star had their hand out for money everytime they heard their song as a ringtone on your phone ?

I would like connect my regular stereo headset to the phone. To listen to mp3 records. So far I found only one adapter available on the market is on http://www.expansys.com/htc/p_htc_item.aspx?i=148545 (which shopping option on the HTC in Europe (http://www.europe.htc.com/index.html?lang=en).
Nor AT&T neither USA HTC site are officering anything like that.
Most of the web sites offering adapters for Tilt, the ones which are design for AT&T 8525. And they are not working with Tilt.
Does anyone solved this problem and found anything suitable on USE market.

"Thanks for the link. A few people said it doesn't work with the HTC Touch and that the sound just plays through the speaker. Since ATT disabled the wired headphone abilitiy, the only way to use non-bluetooth headphones is if someone creates a program that reverses ATT's software. Kind of frustrating, you pay so much for a phone, then they say you have to pay $50+ for a bluetooth headset or possible wired adapter just to listen to music... "

I will be buying my Tytn II Shortly and noticed that the main problem with users here is Egypt is that they cannot use SATNAV as there are no maps for the tomtom software for cairo.
Can any body guide me to a company who makes the software and provides the maps (with updates)

I had my new HTC HD, the device was working slowly and lag most of the time and no GPS service enabled. I flashed my rom with RUU_BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe that you can downlad it from http://rapidshare.com/files/172741648/RUU_BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe and now I am having totally new device with all GPS features enabeled and software now is faster in response. So far i tried google maps and google navigator and they work perfectly. I will try other programs and give my feed back soon. The problem that it is English version, no arabic enabeled. and you can not take the device to htc for service unless you flash rom back to the older version.

Go to the windowsmobile website, in fact, here is the link to the app, it is called windows live search, pretty awesome!! free, and just like the live search on laptops and IE, excepts it's for windows mobile operated phones. I recently purchased the tilt and saw the links on installing the Cube Theme (awsome feature). I had everything set up on the phone then tried to install the HTC Cube FloTouch cab. It worked fine but I could not edit the 6 sided application screen. After some searching and trying several other cabs, I decided to start from scratch. I found a great link for suggestions about the tilt at http://www.pocketables.net/2008/01/10-tips-on-fixi.html#T3 It had several suggestion on a variety of issues with the Tilt. The first tip talks about not using the AT&T preloaded links.. This is awsome.. It solved alot of problems. By not installing the AT&t software it seems to run faster. It also doesnt load the xpress mail and all the AT&T junk on the menus.
Here are the steps I used to install the Cube and am now able to edit the 6 application screen.
1) Updated ROM from HTC 1.62.502
2) Did a Hard Reset (Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage) This removes everything
3)When system restarted it ran the align screen
4) When sytems as to install AT&T software (give you screen with 3 Sec window for cutom app install) Hit the soft reset with stylus in hole at bottom of unit.
This will keep it from installing all the AT&T software automaticly. I have found most of the cabs and programs still on the unit.
5)Install the HTChome6.cab (this keeps you from getting other erros.you can disable on today screen)
6)Install the HTCCube_FTouchFlo_TFloCubeCtrlv110_Config-explode.cab
7)Soft Reset
8)Install teh Kaiser Tweak from xda. and ran the advised tweaks.
9)Soft Reset
10)Run the Start>programs>tools>Cube Settings program and you can edit the 6 app screen on the cube.. (changes the apps but not the graphics so far) Also can change to media player to windows media if not already done in the kaiser tweak.
This set up also puts the Internet share on the programs directory

Either it is signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file. SO I did reintall and then removed it thru remove programs. Same message. Any help on how to get rid of it?

My wife attempted to do a hard reset on her 8925 tilt and the screen is now in sections; red, green, blue, white. Int he red section the displays reads:

in the white screen is reads:
Serial
I tried to do the hard rest pushing the two soft keys as well as the reset button, no luck.
HELP?????

"Your device is stuck in Cold Boot Mode, here is how to fix it:
Download the latest ROM from www.htc.com to a PC.
2. Connect the device to the PC via USB. Note: Activesync and/or Windows Mobile Device Center will not “see” the device.
3. Restart the Cold Boot/Bootloader Mode on the AT&T Tilt:
• If the AT&T Tilt is off, press and hold the camera key and press and release the power button. Follow the on screen steps.
• If AT&T Tilt is on, press and hold the camera key and press and release the soft reset button.
4. USB should now show in the lower portion of the screen on the device.
5. Run the ROM Update. Note: The automatic customization process that runs after the update MUST be allowed to complete."
My goodness browntannis, I wish I read your post of Nov 28. I have exactly the same problem as anonymous above (Sept 10). Five techs from AT&T, and one form HTC were blank about what to do and, as somebody said, the only advise was to do soft and hard resets and finally advising to return the brand new phone to AT&T which I did.

It's not just the occasional command - anything I've tried is either not recognized or comes back sounding like japanese!"
Check to see if your Microphone AGC is enabled. Without AGC enabled, Voice Command really struggles. Go to Start>Settings>System Tab>Microphone AGC> check the "Enabled" box. You can also check the Microsoft website for Voice Command. (See my November 9, 2008 @2:28 post for the URL) U.S. English is standard, but there is a version of U.K. English as well as French and German available. I don't know if HTC will make that available to you - seem like they should. Good Luck!

I just returned another AT&T Tilt phone; just as the last time, I had power problems that forced me to reboot several times a day. Now I'm back using my ancient Samsung phone, waiting for the new AT&T Fuze to come out. Can anyone tell me where I can get a comparison of the two phones? Will the Fuze also be a "free" Wi-Fi phone, that is, will I be able to use it to access hotspots without paying for an unnecessary AT&T data plan each month?

I am in and out of metal buildings at work all day long. Whenever I lose signal and service (antenna icon has a ! next to it), the TILT will not keep searching and restore service, even if I go back to a high signal (5 bars) area. The only way to get service back is to go to the wireless manager and unselect then reselect the phone. At that time it begins searching and restores service. I talked to tech support at HTC and they think it is the radio firmware and to wait until a firmware upgrade comes out, which will be when ATT requests changes. This is my second TILT with the same problem. ATT phone store is going to swap it out for a third one as soon as a new batch comes in.

My HTC 8900 Tilt seems to have a problem with the bluetooth connection. It connects with no problem, and I can hear the other person just fine. The problem is they cannot hear me. This device has worked just fine before and this problem just began. I first thought it was my bluetooth earpiece, but I tried another which has the same problem when paired to my phone. Both devices work just fine on other devices, so I have concluded the problem exists with my phone or Bluetooth software in the phone. Can anyone offer any advice on why the microphone function will not work?

Had same problem, called tech support @ HTC and they fixed it, I had so many other problems putting in skype that i cannot remember what all they did for the connection issue

Just got the Tilt. Works great - except one problem. To access my home network voice mail (not the cell phone service but v-mail at work) I have to enter two stars **. The second * turns the entry into the letter p, so I cannot enter my password mail box. It can be entered from the keyboard, but not the screen. Why is the two **'s becoming a p, and how do you change it. Thanks in advance. Mark

This seems pretty ridiculous that there is not a programming fix for this bug. There is no reason that we should HAVE to have a shortcut version for a pause or a wait. Other phones don't have this and there are a lot of us that need to be able to hit ** for voice mail systems. It seems to me that the tone generation fo two quick stars is the default and that it has been programmed away for convenience in entering a pause command in a saved number. Can't there be a programming way to undo the ** = pause function?
