Weird Problem |

Everytime that I turn my phone off and back on, it deletes all of the previous months text messages. It's kinda annoying, because I save those text messages for a reason. So I thought I would test it out and deleted all my text messages, turned off my phone and then back on, and all the text messages were back except the last months. Is there something that I can do to solve this problem?

It has something to do with writing to ROM. Freaking sucks. I am trashing the phone and getting the Treo Pro.

My 2125 was working fine until suddenly it was off. I tried to turn it on with the power button, no luck. I pulled the battery out, put it back in it would reboot all the way back but when I would touch any button, it would turn off. We pulled the sim card out and put it back in and it worked right for a day. Then we replaced the sim card and it will give you the first Cingular screen, then windows Mobil screen, then goes to Goodbye. Any help out there?

The one things that absolutely drives me crazy about this phone, is that when an incoming call comes in, the left soft key becomes the answer button. Every time I reach into the OEM soft case, it hits this soft keys and takes the call. Not cool if you like to screen your calls. Seems unnessesary to have the soft key map to this, when the hard answer button is always there and is recessed and would never be an issue witht the case. Can somebody please remove or make an option to remove this soft key!

RE: 2125 answer ignore problems
By: AnonymousMay 7 2008, 3:26 PM EDT
I've found a solution that works for me. I've reconfigured my phone to "Answer on Any Key". My problem was never an issue of accidentally pressing the wrong key, rather, in my case the right key was causing the phone to take the wrong action. Specifically, I used to experience the phone effecting an "Ignore" even when I certainly pressed the "Answer" key. Now that the phone is configured to answer on any key, I've had no ignores in two weeks. Every call was answered, on any key I might push. You may not like the idea of answer on any key, and you might actually have had different symptoms than me, so good luck if you are still wrestling this mess. For me, I now have a reliable phone again.

I am considering buying a 2125 but I don't want it for making phone calls so I don't want to get a SIM card. Question is, will it allow me to load programs from my PC and run them without a SIM card? And a related question, will it allow me to use the Bluetooth when there is no SIM card installed? Anyone know the answers to these questions? Thanks.

RE: Is SIM card necessary for non-phone applications
By: AnonymousMar 31 2008, 7:12 PM EDT
Well, I am trying to buy a number of units to make available inexpensively to my customer . These devices will be used as handheld controllers for robots that I will be selling, and they need to be Windows Mobile machines that the user can upload programs to from their PC, have Bluetooth, and at lease 320x240 screen size. And since they are not to designed to be used as phones, I need them to work without a SIM card. There were some 2125s offered on eBay for $64.95, which is about as inexpensive as I have found devices that meet all my requirements. If you know of any devices that I can buy cheaper that meet the requirements, let me know, OK? Send me email to dcfrench at gmail. Thanks.

Phone Randomly Turns Off |

Thread started: Mar 5 2007, 12:54 PM EST Watch
This is so frustrating! My Cingular 2125 turns off randomly without warning. I will go to use my phone or check the time and find that the phone is off. What is worse is that it won't turn back on. I've tried taking the battery out and re-inserting it. Sometimes this works to get it to turn back on and sometimes it doesn't. The battery isn't dead since I charge it every night and when I do get it to turn back on, it has all battery bars displayed. Sometimes lightly tapping it will also make it go on. I know I'm pressing the power button hard enough and long enough. I've tried plugging it in to the AC charger to see if its a short in the battery and that doesn't seem to always solve the problem either. Help! This is so utterly frustrating!!

I got a functional duplicate of the original stereo headset from eBay for $5 + $4 s/h. see item#290157980132 or seller nakpak. The trick to finding a compatible stereo headset is search for TREO STEREO HEADSET. Treo uses the same pin configuration as the 2125.

This is the second time that this occurred to me. I used a handsfree headset, and when I was finished and unplugged the headset, the built-in speaker stopped working. I cannot hear tones when I hit keys or when the phone rings, and I cannot hear the other party when I make a call. Also the mic doesnt work as the other party cannot hear me. The last time this seemed to fix itself but this time I cannot get things working again, even with removing the battery.

RE: Speaker/mic doesnt function after unplugging headset
By: AnonymousAug 13 2007, 10:40 AM EDT
This just started on my 2125 2 weeks ago. When I make a call in normal mode, I can't hear the called party. This appears to be random, but does go away sometimes when I move to another cell site. Time to buy a new phone, I guess, cause I can't live with answering a call and not being able to hear them!
When this does happen, the headset (I never use but just tested) works fine, as does speaker phone. If I try to change it back to the earpiece, I don't hear anything at all. I went to far on my last trip to reset the entire phone to factory defaults without any improvement.

Where can I find spare parts for the Cingular 2125? My phone works great, but the clear shell over the display is distorted, and all I need is a new outer clear plastic shell. It looks like it is melted because I wiped it off with 90% isopropyl alcohol (common rubbing alcohol) to clean it and it ate into the clear plastic, only over the display. (This phone is awesome other than that and better than a video ipod as I can change the 2GB SD cards as I wish.) Anyone know a supplier? Thanks

One thing you can try is maybe just purchasing the screen itself. Here is a link:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Genuine-LCD-screen-for-Cingular-2125-Tmobile-SDA-kit-3_W0QQitemZ260092491619QQihZ016QQcategoryZ41343QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
or just type in "cingular 2125 screen" in an ebay search box and look through the ebay stores. I'm not sure if thats exactly what you were looking for, since you said it seems like you need the top protective layer. Maybe the Layer is included with the screen.

Syncing large files with Windows Vista |

The Cingular 2125 will not sync large files wtih Windows Vista. If you attempt to sync music with Media Player it will sync from one to three files then Windows says the device is disconnected and syncing stops. The device still believes it's connected. Cingular is referring all support for this issue to HTC so I'm hoping for a solution here. Thanks.

I can't figure out a way to switch the 2125 to RNDIS mode. It is not under Start/Programs/Accesories or in Start/Settings/Connections. Also, I haven't found alternate drivers that might enable RNDIS connectivity. Has anyone found this out yet?

Backlight fails to come on at times |

Jan 27 2007, 9:07 PM EST by |
|
|
Thread started: Nov 11 2006, 3:05 AM EST Watch
Sometimes my backlight will simply not come back on once it shuts off due to the preset timeout. It rarely happens, but when it does, you obviously can't see anything on the screen, making it impossible to see what's going on. However, the keypad light comes on just fine. Nothing I press will m ake the backlight turn on.
I used to just take the battery out and then reboot, but after several weeks with the phone, I've developed a "system" of sorts to make this problem less annoying. I downloaded a rebooting program that does just that, reboots the phone, no questions asked. When the backlight refuses to come back on, I activate the voice command and say "reboot" and the sucker reboots in seconds and it's all good.
Like I said, this rarely happens, but it happens often enough for me to wonder what kind of software bug this is and if others have had this issue but haven't thought of it as a bug.

I got Cingular to replace the phone for me. They admitted it was an odd defect and sent me a new one. All is good so far.
I also received a response to my email to HTC and they asked about the firmware version, OS, etc. They didn't seem to be aware fo this issue happening to several people. They too suggested a replacement from Cingular, but I was way ahead of them on that one and had already arranged for that.
